Mein Schiff 6

Mein Schiff is implementing specific measures in several areas related to environmental protection. In general, efforts are made to reduce waste on board and to sort it. Any waste generated is then picked up by waste disposal services in port and processed or recycled on land. Currently, 90% of the fresh water on board is sourced from the sea and treated before it leaves the ship. 

The following projects are currently underway:

Plastic Reduction Program: Plastic and single-use products are avoided on board as much as possible, and whenever feasible, materials made from renewable resources are used. For example, washable cotton aprons are used in the kitchen, and guests will find refillable soap dispensers in the cabins.

Shore Excursion Program: In this area, Mein Schiff follows the independent guidelines of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and gives preference to shore excursion operators that hold a GSTC-recognized sustainability certification. 

Shore Power: The entire Mein Schiff fleet has already been retrofitted for shore power, and all new ships are equipped with a shore power connection right from the shipyard. Using shore power reduces emissions of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter.

Textiles and Interior Design: Mein Schiff partners with Dibella to supply the terry cloth items in the cabins and the guest linens. Dibella manufactures its products from 100 percent GOTS-certified organic cotton. GOTS certification establishes environmental requirements for cotton cultivation as well as social and environmental criteria for further processing throughout the supply chain.

There are more than 1,250 staterooms on the 15 decks, the majority of which have their own balcony. The choice of staterooms ranges from interior staterooms to oceanview, balcony and spa staterooms and luxurious suites. New on Mein Schiff 6 are the diamond suites, the spacious family staterooms and three different suite categories. A highlight on Mein Schiff 6 is the combined balcony stateroom: the balconies can be joined together, providing space for shared holiday moments. All staterooms on Mein Schiff 6 are furnished in a stylish, individual ambience with many amenities. You can also enjoy your first coffee on Mein Schiff 6 with the stateroom's own Nespresso machine, in the privacy of your own staterooms. The design of the staterooms is bright, friendly and timelessly modern.

The main onboard language is German. The atmosphere is relaxed - similar to an upscale club hotel. Especially middle-aged guests feel very comfortable on board. During holidays many families are guests aboard. They appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, the possibility to do sports and the large variety of fine dining options. Almost all food, beverages and gratuities are already included in the cruise price. This distinguishes TUI Cruises - Mein Schiff from other cruise lines.

The numerous restaurants and bars on board Mein Schiff 6 offer a wide variety of culinary delights. You can expect a culinary variety ranging from traditional to modern dishes.

The following restaurants are included in the price:

• Anckelmannsplatz (buffet restaurant): Here you can expect a variety of dishes from the hot and cold buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Atlantik - Mediterranean: savour a variety of meat and fish dishes, vegetarian and vegan dishes in a Mediterranean ambience.
• Atlantik - Classic: Enjoy a rich breakfast buffet in the morning and daily changing 5-course menus in the evening.
• Tag & Nacht-Bistro: The bistro is open almost around the clock - ideal for a small midnight snack.
• Backstube (in the buffet restaurant): Here you can sample crispy rolls, delicious sandwiches or exquisite tarts.
• Bosporus snack bar: Discover hearty, savoury dishes such as doner kebab, falafel or Belgian potatoes with delicious sauces.
• GOSCH Sylt: Enjoy cold and warm fish or seafood variations, e.g. marinated salmon or fried prawns.
• Osteria - Pizza e Pasta: The Italian restaurant offers homemade pizza, pasta and fresh salads.

You pay a surcharge in the following speciality restaurants:

• Surf & Turf Steakhouse: sample tasty grilled specialities from land and sea and discover the extensive wine list.
• Barbecue grill tables: Enjoy a special menu at the tables with integrated grill plate in the outdoor area of the steakhouse.
• Hanami - by Tim Raue: Top gastronomy and Far Eastern cuisine await you here, matched with typical local drinks.
• Schmankerl: Try specialities from the Alpine region, prepared in a traditional and modern style.

In the numerous bars and lounges, you can relax with a warm cup of tea in the Himmel & Meer lounge, savour delicious cocktails in the TUI Bar or enjoy an aperitif in the Schau Bar. Round off the evening with a sparkling glass of exquisite champagne in the Champagner Treff (not included).

Everyone will find his favourite place onboard Mein Schiff 6. The "Diamond Bar" at the rear offers a magnificent sea-view with very classy evening entertainment. You should also visit the Show Lounge where changing events with acrobatics, musicals, magic and comedy are hosted. Even cooking shows, a "mystery dinner" and pool deck parties are offered on board! And if you want to party you should dance in the "AbtanzBar" until the early morning! "Mein Schiff 6" offers a large fitness area and aerobic classes. The extensive wellness area features a large sea-view sauna and a steam-room. For an additional fee you can choose from the vast range of massages and "feel-good-treatments" or arrange a sports session with a personal trainer. Sporting excursions are also offered on board.

For children, there is a Kids Club on board that cares for children ages 3–11. The age groups are as follows: 

• Krabben: 3–5 years
• Seeteufel: 6–8 years
• Piranhas: 9–11 years

The Kids Club is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During mealtimes with the Kids Club counselors at the Anckelmannsplatz buffet restaurant, there is no separate supervision at the Kids Club.

There’s also a teen program on board for teens ages 12–17. They’re welcome in the Sturmfrei Teen Lounge. Whether they’re sports enthusiasts, looking to relax, interested in food, or creative, there are plenty of highlights to keep them from getting bored. In general, according to the current STIKO recommendation, adolescents are required to be fully vaccinated (including two doses of the measles vaccine) in order to participate in the program.

Shore excursions can be booked both before your trip and, depending on availability, on board. The excursions are organized by local tour operators, and the on-site tour guides make every effort to offer them in German. However, it is possible that some excursions may be conducted in English. The cycling, e-bike, and e-scooter excursions, as well as the golf and diving excursions organized by TUI Cruises, are always accompanied by a German-speaking activity expert.
