- 2. The cabin accommodation was very good. Facilities were excellent and the standard of furnishings was very good.
a. Criticism: no hot water for my shower before 07.15

- 3. Staff throughout the ship were helpful and polite.
a. Special mention: (a) the Doctor and her staff in the medical center were extremely competent, and were sympathetic. (b) Our room steward Stanley learned our names and greeted us warmly whenever our paths crossed.
4. Food and restaurants:
a. Marketplace buffet: everything we ate in the marketplace restaurant was of excellent quality. There was plenty of choices for every meal and everything was fresh and of excellent quality.
i. Special mention – one of the catering officers helped us when sliced bread (for toasting) ran out during breakfast and despite his other pressing duties he personally guided me to a station that still had some sliced bread that I could bring back to the toasting station.
- Would you like to note some more short remarks about the ship MSC Grandiosa?
- 1. The routines established for managing the passengers worked very well. Our cards gave us access to whatever we needed and we were checked onto the ship, off the ship for excursions, and back onboard the ship at the end.
. Criticism: it was very difficult to find out the cost of any extras – such as a glass of beer or a glass of wine. These should be made available on a special page on the ship’s onboard website.
b. Purple Crab: we were booked to dine in the purple crab restaurant and we ate there on our first night. We were disappointed with the quality of what we ate and felt a bit intimidated that we were not able to price any extras (water, coke, wine) that we ordered. Poor food and lack of transparency meant that we did not return to the Purple Crab restaurant for the rest of the trip.
. Specialty restaurants: We dined at 3 of these – The Teppanyaki Restaurant; The Sushi Restaurant: and the Taco Restaurant. We were disappointed with all of these. We have lived in many countries and have experienced first-hand these cuisines and what was served to us fell far short of our expectations. It was galling to have to pay for an experience that fell far short of the Marketplace buffet and we would not advise other passengers to try these restaurants.
