Pillnitz is a picturesque district of Dresden and, thanks to its location directly on the Elbe, is considered one of the most magnificent river cruise destinations in Saxony. The town impresses with its stately flair and a harmonious blend of Baroque architecture and extensive parklands amidst the Saxon vineyard landscape. Immediate highlights include the magnificent Schloss Pillnitz with its Water Palace and Mountain Palace, the famous Pillnitz Camellia, which is over 250 years old, and the botanically unique Schlosspark. In Pillnitz, paid parking spaces such as the Leonardo-da-Vinci-Straße car park or Car Park 1 at the palace are available, with daily rates of approximately 3 to 4 euros. Please note possible maintenance periods for the car ferry between Kleinzschachwitz and Pillnitz; in such cases, arrival via the Dresden city area is recommended.
Train and Public Transport
Your destination station is Dresden Hauptbahnhof, an important hub in the ICE network. From there, you can easily reach Pillnitz by public transport. A direct bus connection (Line 63) takes you from Dresden city centre, for example from Schillerplatz, to the "Pillnitzer Platz" or "Schloss Pillnitz" stop in about 20 minutes, from where the pier is within walking distance. Alternatively, you can take the S-Bahn S1 or S2 from the main station to Niedersedlitz and from there use bus 88 to Kleinzschachwitz, followed by a passenger ferry across the Elbe. For a particularly charming arrival, a steamboat trip with the Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt from the Dresden Terrassenufer directly to the Pillnitz pier is also an option.

The nearest airport is Dresden Airport (DRS), located approximately 20 to 30 kilometres from Pillnitz. From the airport, you can reach Pillnitz by taxi in about 20 to 30 minutes, with costs ranging between 34 and 58 euros depending on the provider. For arrival by public transport, first take the S-Bahn S2 to Dresden Hauptbahnhof and then use the bus or steamboat connections mentioned above. Numerous transfer services also offer a comfortable direct trip from the airport to your accommodation in Dresden or to Pillnitz. An overnight stay in one of the charming hotels in Dresden on the day before embarkation is recommended to start your Elbe river cruise in a relaxed manner.

On foot through the Palace Park

Bus and Ferry
Bus line 63 connects the city center of Dresden directly with the Pillnitzer Platz stop, which is only a short walk from the port. If you are coming from Kleinzschachwitz on the opposite side of the Elbe, the passenger ferry F14 will take you directly to the palace garden at regular intervals, allowing for a punctual return.
Taxi and Hotel Transfer
A taxi rank is located directly at the visitor center as well as in front of the Schlosshotel Pillnitz at the main entrance to the park. In addition, you can conveniently have a vehicle called at the hotel reception, which will transport you safely and directly to the ship's pier on the Elbe.
