The inhabitants of Ketchikan live on a distance of almost 50 kilometres. There are only two streets . The houses stand on stilts right on the water and on the opposite side they are pressed against the mountain and can only be reached via a steep staircase. Historic Creek Street is well worth a visit. Ketchikan is also a perfect starting point for a trip to Prince of Wales Island , where you will set off with a bear watching ranger. -> Ketchikan Cruises

During your cruise to Alaska, there will most likely be a stop in the capital, Juneau. Visit the Mendenhall Glacier, one of the country's famous glaciers. If you're lucky, you'll be there live as the glacier calves and plunges huge icebergs into Mendenhall Lake. Flying over the ice landscape, you can see the Tongass National Forest National Park from the air and watch humpback whales, killer whales or sea lions on the sea. -> Juneau cruises

From here, it's not far to take a day trip to Kenai Fjords National Park , where you'll encounter the giant Harding Ice Field , which tilts out into the sea as a tidal glacier. Outside of Seward you will reach the exit Glacier. This experience is particularly impressive because you can get very close to the glacier at this point. Information boards explain the origin and evolution of eternal ice at this point. Many hiking trails start from here into the forests of the national park. -> Seward cruises
