The German tour operator Phoenix Reisen was founded in 1973. In 1988 they started cruising the oceans with the charter of the ship Maxim Gorkiy. Starting as a pure ocean shipping company, Phoenix Reisen expanded its range in 1993 to include the popular river cruises. The four well-known ocean liners are now joined by more than 30 river ships as well as a few smaller ships for exceptional destinations. The shipping company is still in family hands and attaches great importance to a friendly and pleasant atmosphere aboard their ships.

The luxurious ship MS Gloria belongs to the the prestigious Swiss cruise line Scylla Tours. It was built in 2005 and since 2015 it cruises for Phoenix Reisen on one of the most beautiful waterways in France, the Rhône. The MS Gloria offers a high level of comfort and a tasteful ambiance in a classic luxurious style. Elegant and friendly rooms ensure the right feel-good factor from the first moment you entered the ship. 80 % of the cabins on board are equipped with a French balcony. With a length of 110 m, the ship can accommodate up to 150 passengers on 4 passenger decks.

All staterooms on board the MS Gloria are comfortably furnished outside staterooms. The size of the staterooms varies between approx. 14 and 17 sqm. The staterooms on the Orion and Saturn decks have large panoramic windows that can be opened to a French balcony. The staterooms on the Neptune deck have smaller windows that cannot be opened for security reasons. All staterooms are equipped with shower/WC, a hairdryer, an individually adjustable air conditioning, a TV, a radio, a minibar, a safe, a telephone and a daily newspaper. The voltage is 230 V AC. The beds in the standard staterooms can be set up as either double or single beds. The deluxe staterooms have double beds.

Like on all Phoenix ships, the atmosphere on board the MS Gloria is cosy and informal, with a touch of elegance and luxury. The dress code on board is casual. At the traditional captain's dinner a more elegant wardrobe is expected, but evening wear is not needed here either. Regional events, live music and light entertainment will make your trip a great holiday in France. Due to the fact that the tour operator is a German company the onboard language is German and guests pay their bills in Euro.

The MS Gloria offers regional dishes in two different restaurants. There are open long table times and a free choice of seats at breakfast and lunch. At dinner there is a fixed table choice.

In addition to the restaurants, the comfortable Lido-Heckbar (not included) and the stylishly furnished Panorama-Lounge (not included) round off the culinary offerings.

On board is a selection of books, board and card games available. Regular dance evenings with live music are offered on most cruises. Also Wellness lovers are in good hands on board the MS Gloria. Sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and solarium invite you to relax and take a break from everyday life. On deck you can enjoy the spacious sundeck with whirlpool and bar service while the beautiful river landscape of France passes by.

Through a variety of shore excursions, you have the opportunity to get to know the country and its people along the route. The excursion program is adapted to the length of stay of the ship and is accompanied by qualified tour guides. The excursions are usually in German language. The shore excursions can be booked directly on board or partly in advance online at the shipping company. Girocard and VISA/MasterCard are accepted on board.
