Eden is a charming gem on Australia's Sapphire Coast and impresses as one of the deepest natural harbors in the Southern Hemisphere. Returning to the ship
The Port of Eden, located on the picturesque Sapphire Coast in New South Wales, is known for its deep natural harbor in Twofold Bay. Thanks to the modern cruise pier in Snug Cove, cruise ships can usually dock directly at the wharf, allowing for convenient embarkation. The Eden Welcome Centre, located right at the terminal, serves as a point of contact for arriving guests.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Merimbula Airport (MIM), approximately a 20-minute drive from Eden. This regional airport offers daily flight connections from Sydney (SYD) and Melbourne (MEL). Rental cars and taxis are available from Merimbula Airport to reach the cruise terminal. For guests from the DACH region, it is recommended to travel via the international airports in Sydney or Melbourne with a connecting flight to Merimbula.
Auto
Eden is easily accessible via the Princes Highway (A1), which connects major cities like Sydney and Melbourne. Driving times are approximately 6.3 hours from Sydney and 7 hours from Melbourne. Limited parking is available for cars directly at the Snug Cove port. Another option is Eden Gateway, which offers secure long-term parking including a shuttle service to the terminal. Free street parking in the town center is also an option but requires about a 15-minute walk to the ship. Early reservation of parking spaces is advisable during the peak cruise season from October to April.
Pre-Cruise Hotel & Transfer
Given the long journey from the DACH region, an overnight stay before the cruise is highly recommended, either in Sydney or Melbourne before the onward flight to Merimbula, or directly in the Eden/Merimbula region. Many cruise lines offer organized transfers from the airport to the ship. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or use a rental car after landing at Merimbula Airport. During the stay in the Port of Eden, free shuttle buses usually run on cruise days between the Eden Welcome Centre at the pier and the Eden town center (Imlay Street), making exploring the area pleasantly easy.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your arrival at the port and consider that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
