Port information & tips for Bratislava
Bratislava is the charming capital of Slovakia and a true jewel directly on the banks of the Danube. The city impresses with its compact old town, where Baroque palaces and medieval alleys create an inviting atmosphere and a rich cultural heritage. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the majestic Bratislava Castle towering over the city, the Gothic St. Martin's Cathedral, and the futuristic observation deck of the UFO Tower on the Most SNP bridge. River cruise ships dock at the central "Osobný prístav Bratislava" at Fajnorovo nábrežie. From this terminal, travelers can reach the historic center and the lively pedestrian zones comfortably on foot in just a few minutes, providing a perfect starting point for exploration.
The Port of Bratislava, thanks to its central location on the Danube, is an excellently accessible starting point for river cruises in the heart of Europe. The docking points are located in the immediate vicinity of the historic Old Town, allowing guests to benefit from short distances between transport hubs and the ship.
Car
Via the Austrian A6 motorway or the Czech D2, you can reach Bratislava city center and the central docking points at Fajnorovo nábrežie directly. In the immediate vicinity of the port, modern parking garages such as the Garage Carlton or the parking area at the Eurovea shopping center offer secure parking spaces for the duration of your cruise; additionally, guarded long-term parking including transfers can often be arranged via specialized park-and-cruise providers.
Train
Bratislava hlavná stanica main station is an important hub for international rail traffic and offers hourly connections from Vienna as well as regular direct connections from Germany and Switzerland. From the station, you can reach the cruise terminal comfortably within about ten minutes by taxi or use the direct tram connections that lead you quickly toward the banks of the Danube.
Airplane
Bratislava Airport (BTS) is located only about 10 kilometers from the port and is optimally complemented by Vienna International Airport (VIE) as a second major hub just 65 kilometers away. Comfortable express buses from providers such as FlixBus or Slovak Lines run several times per hour between Vienna Airport and Bratislava city center, bringing you directly to your departure point in a journey time of around 45 to 60 minutes.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
