The nearest airport is Ålesund Airport Vigra (AES), located about 23 kilometers from Hareid. From there, comfortable transfer options are available: a combination of bus and express boat takes you to Hareid in around 1 hour 26 minutes to 1 hour 41 minutes. Alternatively, you can reach the port by car and car ferry in about one hour. For international guests from the DACH region, arriving the day before is recommended to start the cruise in a relaxed manner.
Car & Ferry Connections
Arriving with your own vehicle takes you via the Norwegian road network, with the island of Hareidlandet being excellently connected by regular ferry services. The main connection is the car ferry from Sulesund to Hareid, which takes about 23 minutes and runs frequently. After the ferry crossing, you reach the port directly. In the center of Hareid, near the pier, parking facilities are available, including special spaces for motorhomes with electricity hookups.

The impressive Ishavsmuseet Aarvak in the fishing village of Brandal can be reached in just ten minutes by taxi and offers unique insights into Norwegian polar history as well as the originally preserved polar ship "Aarvak". The extensive museum complex is ideal for a cultural tour and also features an inviting café known for its traditional Norwegian waffles. It is best to plan your visit for the morning to explore the exhibitions in peace and return to the port of Hareid relaxed in the early afternoon.
The way back to the berth in Hareid is particularly uncomplicated and safe thanks to the central location of the port directly in the village center.
On Foot
From the Hareid Senter shopping center as well as the cafes in the village center, you can enjoy a comfortable walk back to the quay in just a few minutes via flat paths. Orientation is easy, as your ship's funnel is visible from almost every point in the village and serves as a landmark.
