Port information & tips for Brønnøysund

Brønnøysund is the charming "town in the middle of Norway" and a jewel of the picturesque Helgeland coast. This idyllic coastal gem enchants visitors with its relaxed Nordic lifestyle and an impressive backdrop of thousands of small islands and skerry rocks. Among the most famous landmarks are the legendary Torghatten mountain with its striking natural tunnel and the historic Brønnøy Church, centrally located in the town. Cruise ships typically use the modern Gårdsøya Cruise Quay, which is situated about two kilometers from the lively center and offers a perfect starting point for nature experiences and city walks thanks to short distances and direct connections to the coastal paths.

Brønnøysund is a picturesque destination on the Norwegian Helgeland coast and serves as a major port of call for cruises, especially for Hurtigruten. The port is centrally located, with Hurtigruten ships usually docking directly at the Midthavna city quay, providing easy access to the city center.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Brønnøysund Airport, Brønnøy (BNN). This regional airport offers direct flights and connecting services from major hubs such as Oslo (OSL), Trondheim (TRD), and Bodø (BOO) thanks to Widerøe. The flight time from Oslo to Brønnøysund is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, and only 50 minutes from Trondheim. From the airport, you can reach the Hurtigruten terminal Midthavna after just 0.5 kilometers, while other cruise terminals such as Gårdsøya/Nordhavna are about 2.5 kilometers away. A taxi or rental car ensures a quick transfer to the ship.

Car

Brønnøysund is excellently connected via the scenic coastal road Fv17, which offers a delightful driving experience through the Norwegian landscape. Various parking options are available on-site. For example, the centrally located Thon Hotel Brønnøysund offers free parking for its guests. In addition, you will find paid motorhome parking spaces (Bobilparkering) with power supply near the harbor, with the service building located at Havnegata 8.

For a relaxed arrival, especially after long flights from the DACH region with necessary transfers, an overnight stay in Brønnøysund on the day before embarkation is recommended.
