The port of Vilagarcia de Arousa in Galicia, Spain, is excellently connected and can be easily reached from the DACH region by car, train, or plane. It is strategically located in the heart of the Galician Atlantic Corridor and close to the city center, allowing for smooth travel to the various ship berths.
Car
Thanks to the direct connection to the AP-9 Atlantic highway, Galicia's main traffic artery, you can reach the port of Vilagarcia quickly. In addition, the port is directly accessible via the national roads N-640, PO-548, and PO-549, as well as the O Salnés regional expressway. Public parking is available in the immediate vicinity of the port and in the city center. For a relaxed start to your cruise, it is recommended to check the parking situation in advance or, if necessary, use hotel parking spaces with a shuttle service.
Train
The Vilagarcia de Arousa train station is part of the Galician Atlantic axis and offers fast connections, for example to Pontevedra in just 15 minutes and Santiago de Compostela in about 20 minutes. The connection on the main line between A Coruña and Vigo is also excellent. Since the port is very close to the city center, the cruise terminal is easily accessible from the station by taxi or a short walk.
Airplane
The nearest airports are Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) and Vigo (VGO), both around 40 to 60 kilometers away and reachable in about 40 to 50 minutes by car. Transfer options are available from both airports. From Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), a combination of bus and train takes about 1 hour 26 minutes, while private transfers directly to the port take about 46 minutes. From Vigo (VGO), the car journey takes about 41 minutes, while bus and train connections with a change in Pontevedra take about 1 hour 45 minutes. Due to the travel time and the transfers often required, arriving the day before with an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel in the region is recommended.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
