Port information & tips for Slano
Slano is an idyllic jewel on the southern Croatian Adriatic, nestled in a deep, sheltered bay north of Dubrovnik. The charming coastal village captivates with its peaceful, Mediterranean atmosphere and is surrounded by fragrant pine forests and extensive olive groves. Cultural highlights include the magnificent Knežev dvor (Rector's Palace) and the historic Franciscan monastery with the Church of St. Jerome. Ships usually dock directly at the central Riva at the Obala Stjepana Radića pier, meaning the picturesque village center and inviting waterfront promenades are comfortably reachable within just a few minutes' walk.
Slano is a charming small harbor town on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, located northwest of Dubrovnik and easily accessible for cruise guests from the DACH region. The port, mainly characterized by the ACI Marina Slano, serves as an idyllic anchorage for smaller cruise ships and yachts.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), located approximately 52 to 56 kilometers southeast of Slano. This airport is served by various European cities, making it a convenient travel option for guests from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The flight time from the DACH region may make arriving the day before embarkation recommended in order to start your vacation relaxed.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), you can easily reach Slano by taxi or private transfer. A taxi ride takes about 50 to 54 minutes, with costs ranging between €120 and €195. Many local transfer services also offer private shuttles, with prices starting from around €80 to €125 depending on the vehicle type and number of people. Arriving by public bus is also possible, but requires a transfer at the Dubrovnik bus station and takes a total of around 1 hour and 53 minutes to 1 hour and 56 minutes.
Auto
For travelers arriving in their own vehicle or using a rental car, Slano is easily accessible via the Croatian coastal road D8 (Jadranska magistrala), which passes through the town. This road connects Slano directly with Dubrovnik and the rest of the coastline. The A1 highway (Dalmatinska autocesta) leads up to the vicinity of Ploče, and an extension towards Dubrovnik is planned. On site, the ACI Marina Slano offers parking facilities for cruise passengers.
Check-in & Einschiffung
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always observe the current announcements and notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
