Schweinfurt is a charming destination for river cruises on the Main. The central docking point at Lände Schweinfurt is located at Main kilometer 333 in the upper water of the Schweinfurt lock and, thanks to its direct proximity to the old town, allows for convenient exploration on foot.

Car

Schweinfurt is excellently connected to the German long-distance road network thanks to its direct connection to the A70 motorway and the B286 federal road. The A71 also ensures good accessibility from the direction of Thuringia. In the city center, more than 3,000 parking spaces are available in five municipal underground garages and three private parking garages, some of which, such as the Mainberger Straße parking garage, offer inexpensive daily flat rates. The cruise terminal can be reached quickly and easily from there.

Train

Schweinfurt Hauptbahnhof is an important hub for rail travelers. From there, you can reach the port comfortably and directly with city bus line 64, the so-called industrial bus line. Alternatively, a taxi will take you to the centrally located docking point in a short time.

Airplane

The nearest international airport for traveling to Schweinfurt is Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA), which is approximately 143 to 172 kilometers away. The travel time by car or taxi is around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes. A comfortable arrival is also possible by train, with direct ICE and IC connections from Frankfurt Airport long-distance station to Schweinfurt Hauptbahnhof in an average of 2 hours. For a relaxed embarkation, especially after long flights, we recommend arriving the day before with an overnight stay in Schweinfurt.

You can reach the city center with the market square and the magnificent town hall in about 5 to 10 minutes. The path leads along the well-kept Main promenade and offers you a beautiful view of the city wall and the Schrotturm upon arrival.

The green buses of Stadtwerke Schweinfurt serve a dense network of lines and take you reliably to any destination. The central transfer point, Roßmarkt, is located in the immediate vicinity of the pedestrian zone and serves as an ideal starting point for explorations throughout the city area as well as to the local recreation areas.

Taxi

The renowned Museum Georg Schäfer is located just a few minutes' walk from the ship landing stage at the Mainlände and houses the world's most important private collection of 19th-century German painting. The first-class collection, featuring works by Carl Spitzweg and Caspar David Friedrich, is perfect for art lovers and offers a special aesthetic experience thanks to its award-winning modern architecture. A visit can be ideally combined with a stay at the museum's own café, which also offers a wonderful view of the banks of the Main. Ideally, take advantage of the early morning hours for a relaxed tour and return to your ship on time and full of new impressions after a short stroll through the nearby historic old town.

Returning to the ship

The return journey from Schweinfurt's historic old town to your ship at the Mainlände is pleasantly short and, thanks to the central location of the berths, can be organized in a relaxed and safe manner.

On Foot

From the Marktplatz or the Rathaus, you can walk in less than ten minutes directly via Brückenstraße back to the berth at Luitpoldstraße or the Gutermann-Promenade. The paths along the banks of the Main are level and also offer wonderful orientation directly along the river.

Taxi

Taxis are available at all times at the central transport hub Roßmarkt as well as at the Hauptbahnhof and will bring you comfortably back to the ship in just a few minutes. Additionally, you can simply have a taxi called at the reception of larger hotels such as the Mercure Hotel Schweinfurt Maininsel to arrive punctually and directly at the quay.

Local Buses

The city buses of Stadtwerke Schweinfurt converge at Roßmarkt and offer an easy connection from all parts of the city back to the vicinity of the port. Thanks to the high frequency, you can reach the city center and the adjacent pier promptly at any time and enjoy the return journey without any time pressure.
