Ochsenfurt, idyllically situated in the heart of the Franconian Wine Country, is a charming starting point for river cruises on the Main. The central pier on the banks of the Main allows easy access to the historic old town with its picturesque medieval fortifications.

Car

Ochsenfurt is easily accessible thanks to its direct location on the B 13 federal road. Via the A3 motorway (Frankfurt-Nuremberg), use the junction between Eibelstadt and Randersacker, which is located about 12 kilometers to the north. From the A7 (Fulda-Ulm), you can reach Ochsenfurt via the Marktbreit junction, only about 8 kilometers away, or alternatively via Gollhofen. In Ochsenfurt, around 700 parking spaces are available in the vicinity of the old town, including a large parking lot directly on the banks of the Main and a parking garage at Jahnstraße 2.

Train

Ochsenfurt station is located on the Würzburg-Treuchtlingen railway line and is served hourly by Regional-Express (RE 80) and Regionalbahn (RB 80) trains. From here, there are direct connections to Würzburg, Treuchtlingen, Augsburg, and Munich. From Würzburg, you also benefit from IC connection options towards Nuremberg, Munich, and Frankfurt. The station is only about 0.7 kilometers from the city center, and the pier as well as the old town are easily accessible on foot. At the station forecourt, you will also find bus connections and a taxi rank for short distances.

Airplane

The nearest major airport is Nuremberg (NUE), around 75.5 kilometers away, with a travel time of about 60 minutes. Alternatively, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is an option, which is located about 115.3 kilometers away and can be reached in around 90 minutes by car. For onward travel to the port of Ochsenfurt, the train connection via Würzburg is recommended from both airports to reach your river cruise ship in a relaxed manner and without parking worries.

The well-kept alleys invite you to take a relaxed stroll and feature cozy cafés that are perfect for a short break with regional specialties. Ideally, visit the Rathaus on the hour in the late morning to admire the mechanical play of figures, and then return to the ship in a relaxed manner for departure.

Returning to the ship

The return journey to the ship mooring in Ochsenfurt is straightforward and safe thanks to its central location directly on the banks of the Main. This allows you to reach your cruise ship comfortably and on time after your stay in the historic old town.

On Foot

From sights such as the striking Rathaus or the city fortifications, you can walk in just a few minutes directly via Mainstraße back to the riverbank area of the Mainlände. The path is very easy to find thanks to the visible city wall and the old Mainbrücke and is also pleasantly flat to walk.
