Port information & tips for Vienna

Vienna is the magnificent capital of Austria and is considered one of the cultural highlights along the Danube. The city captivates with its imperial charm as well as a unique blend of historical elegance, grand coffee houses, and modern quality of life. In close proximity to the shore, highlights such as the iconic Wiener Riesenrad in the Prater, the impressive Mexikokirche, and the extensive Donauinsel invite you to make your first discoveries. Cruise ships dock at the central Vienna-Reichsbrücke shipping center on Handelskai, which, thanks to its excellent connection to the U1 subway line, provides a comfortable route to the historic center around St. Stephen's Cathedral, just a few kilometers away.

As one of the most important ports for Danube cruises, Vienna is excellently connected to the European transport network and offers guests from the DACH region a comfortable journey. The centrally located berths at Handelskai near the Reichsbrücke and at the Donaumarina are directly accessible thanks to modern infrastructure and short distances.

Car

Via the A22 Donauuferautobahn motorway and the Handelskai exit, you can reach the berths in the Reichsbrücke area directly. You will find secure long-term parking for your vehicle right at the port in the Parkhaus Reichsbrücke, and nearby garages along Handelskai offer further convenient parking options for the duration of your river cruise.

Train

Vienna Main Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof) serves as a central hub for international long-distance travel with direct Railjet connections from cities such as Munich, Zurich, or Frankfurt. From there, you can reach the port at the Reichsbrücke in about 15 minutes by taking the U1 underground line to the Vorgartenstraße or Donauinsel station; additionally, taxis are available at the station forecourt at all times for a direct transfer to the ship.

Airplane

Vienna International Airport (VIE) is located approximately 20 kilometers from the cruise terminal and is served by direct flights from across the German-speaking region several times a day. Thanks to fast connections by taxi or private shuttle services, you can reach your ship in around 20 minutes, while the City Airport Train (CAT) offers a reliable connection to the city center with direct access to the Vienna underground network.
