Port information & tips for Vienna Nussdorf
Vienna-Nussdorf is the idyllic gateway to the magnificent Austrian capital and impresses with its charming character at the foot of the Viennese vineyards. Its picturesque location on the Danube radiates a relaxed atmosphere while offering a first-class starting point for cultural discoveries. In the immediate vicinity, the famous wine-growing district of Grinzing with its traditional Heuriger taverns and the historic Kahlenberg with its breathtaking panoramic views invite you on unforgettable excursions. River cruise ships dock at the Donaustation Wien-Nussdorf piers, from where the historic center can be reached comfortably and quickly thanks to the direct tram line D or the nearby Heiligenstadt U-Bahn station.
The Vienna cruise port Nussdorf, a popular starting point for river cruises, is well connected to the transport network and easy to reach thanks to its location in the north of Vienna. Although direct access to the terminal for private cars is prohibited, efficient park-and-ride options and excellent connections to local public transport ensure a relaxed journey. The port has several berths; you can find the exact numbering in your travel documents.
Car
Although traveling by private car directly to the Vienna-Nussdorf pier is prohibited by the port operator, you can reach the area via Heiligenstädter Straße or the B14. A city-wide short-term parking zone also applies throughout the urban area of Vienna. A recommended alternative for long-term parkers is the Park & Ride Spittelau (Spittelauer Lände 12, 1090 Vienna), from where you can comfortably continue with tram line D to the Nussdorfer Platz stop. From there, the pier is just a few minutes' walk away.
Train
The nearest train station is Wien Nußdorf, which is only about 570 meters south of the ship's pier. Regional trains and the S40 S-Bahn line stop here. From Nußdorf station, you can reach the pier after an approximately ten-minute walk through an underpass and along the Treppelweg path. There are good connections from Vienna Main Station (Hauptbahnhof) by S-Bahn and U-Bahn, for example with the U4 to Heiligenstadt and then with tram line D or bus 239 to Nussdorfer Platz.
Airplane
Vienna-Schwechat Airport (VIE) is the nearest international airport and is about 24 minutes by taxi from the Nussdorf port. Numerous taxi and airport transfer services are available at the airport for a quick transfer. Alternatively, you can reach Nussdorf affordably by public transport, for example with a combination of bus line 901 and tram line D. The City Airport Train (CAT) also offers a fast non-stop connection to Vienna city center (Wien Mitte), from where you can easily reach Nussdorf by U-Bahn and tram. For longer journeys, a pre-cruise overnight stay in a Vienna hotel is recommended to start your cruise in a relaxed manner.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
