Port information & tips for CocoCay (Private Island, Little Stirrup Cay)

CocoCay, also known as Little Stirrup Cay, is Royal Caribbean's exclusive private island paradise nestled in the stunning island world of the Bahamas. The destination impresses with a first-class combination of relaxed island flair, fine sandy beaches, and spectacular experience worlds directly on the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Outstanding highlights include the adrenaline-pumping Thrill Waterpark with the record-breaking Daredevil’s Peak waterslide, as well as the expansive Oasis Lagoon and the exclusive Coco Beach Club. Cruise ships dock directly at the modern Perfect Day at CocoCay Pier, from which all attractions and beach sections are within easy walking distance or reachable in just a few moments via the complimentary island tram service.

The exclusive private island CocoCay is visited as part of a cruise and, thanks to its location in the Bahamas, is perfectly integrated into itineraries departing from Florida. For guests from the DACH region, travel therefore takes place via the major hubs in the USA, from which the ships set a direct course for this island paradise.

Airplane

Travel from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland typically involves flying into Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Direct connections from Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich bring you comfortably to Florida in approximately 10 to 11 flight hours; additionally, Orlando International Airport (MCO) offers good connections for departures from Port Canaveral.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Miami Airport, you can reach the port of PortMiami in about 20 minutes by taxi or shuttle, while the trip from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Port Everglades often takes only 10 to 15 minutes. The cruise lines also provide comfortable transfer buses, and rideshare providers such as Uber or Lyft enable flexible onward travel directly to the respective terminal for embarkation toward CocoCay.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the time difference and the long flight distance, an overnight stay in Florida is recommended at least one day before embarkation. Many hotels in Miami Beach or Fort Lauderdale also offer special packages including transfers to the ship, allowing you to start your journey relaxed and compensate for jet lag before boarding.
