The Hero of the Seas is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and is equipped with a shore power connection, which reduces emissions. It also has a heat recovery system that allows the waste heat from the engine to be reused.

The Hideaway Pool, for example, is an adults-only pool oasis, while you can enjoy the beautiful view at the Cloud 17 Infinity Pool, and the Royal Bay Pool is ideal for the whole family. Sports enthusiasts can play team sports on the sports court, work out in the gym, or jog on the running track. In the evenings, a variety of shows and entertainment programs await you. For example, marvel at great shows under a 16-metre high waterfall in the Aquatheatre or be enchanted by great tricks on the ice in the Absolute Zero ice skating arena.

At the Royal Babies & Tots Nursery, children aged 6–36 months receive professional care (subject to a fee and reservation). At Adventure Ocean, children ages 3–11 are cared for free of charge, while teenagers (ages 13–17) have their own areas on board.
