Airplane
For travelers from the DACH region, we recommend a flight to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Vancouver (YVR) is approximately 110 kilometers from Victoria and offers direct flights from Europe. From there, you can take a domestic flight to Victoria International Airport (YYJ), which is located about 27 kilometers north of the cruise terminal. Alternatively, arrival via Seattle (SEA) is also possible, which also offers direct connections from Europe. However, the transfer from SEA to Victoria is more complex and usually requires a ferry crossing. Due to the long flight time, arrival the day before embarkation is strongly recommended.
Ferry
The ferry connection is a popular and scenic transfer option to Victoria. From Tsawwassen near Vancouver, BC Ferries run regularly to Swartz Bay, the ferry terminal north of Victoria. The crossing takes about 1 hour and 35 minutes. From the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, you can reach the Ogden Point Cruise Terminal in Victoria by taxi or shuttle bus in about 45 minutes. From Seattle, there is a fast ferry connection with the Victoria Clipper directly to Victoria's Inner Harbour, which is only a few minutes' drive from the cruise terminal. The trip with the Clipper takes about 2.5 to 3 hours.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long journey from the DACH region and the need for transfers (airplane, ferry), an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel in Victoria is highly recommended. This allows for a relaxed start to your cruise and offers the opportunity to explore the charming city of Victoria in advance. Many hotels in Downtown Victoria are just a short taxi ride from the Ogden Point Cruise Terminal. Hotels near the airport or the ferry terminal in Swartz Bay are also suitable, often offering shuttle services to the respective transport hubs.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
