Airplane
The nearest international airports for your arrival are Shannon Airport (SNN) and Dublin Airport (DUB). Shannon Airport (SNN) is located approximately 122 to 130 kilometers from Rossaveal, while Dublin Airport (DUB) is around 214 to 219 kilometers from Galway City. Direct flights from the DACH region are available to both airports, and thanks to good connections, you can start your Aran Islands adventure relaxed.
Transfer & Ferry
From Dublin Airport (DUB), you can easily reach Galway City with direct buses from providers such as Citylink or Expressway in about 3 hours. From Shannon Airport (SNN), you can take the bus to Galway Ceannt and from there continue to Rossaveal, with the entire bus journey taking approximately 3 hours and 29 minutes. Alternatively, you can reach Rossaveal from Shannon Airport (SNN) by car in about 1 hour and 35 minutes. From Galway City, a shuttle bus (approx. 50-60 minutes travel time) runs directly to the ferry terminal in Rossaveal, which should be booked in advance. The ferry from Rossaveal to Inis Mór takes about 40 minutes. Please note that vehicles cannot be taken onto the island. 24-hour parking is available in Rossaveal, costing approximately 7-8 € per day.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the multi-part journey, an overnight stay in Galway City is recommended before the ferry crossing. This allows you a relaxed start to the day before taking the ferry to Rossaveal or departing directly from the Galway City Docks if you use the seasonal ferry connection. In Galway City, there is also a public parking garage at the harbor for the seasonal ferry, which costs 15 € for 24 hours.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation.
