Airplane
For travelers from the DACH region, the journey usually goes via international airports in Indonesia, such as Jakarta (CGK) or Denpasar (DPS). From there, an internal flight continues to Ahmad Yani International Airport (SRG) in Semarang on Java. This airport is approximately 125 kilometers from the Karimunjawa Archipelago. Alternatively, there is the small Dewadaru Airport (KWB) directly on the main island of Karimunjawa, which, however, only offers very limited domestic flights, often from Semarang or Surabaya with airlines such as Susi Air, and sometimes operates as a charter flight. Prior booking and careful checking of flight schedules is essential here.
Transfer & Ferry
From Semarang Airport (SRG), you can reach Jepara or Kendal, the main departure points for ferries to Karimunjawa, by taxi or shuttle bus. The journey to Jepara takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. From Jepara, speedboats such as the Express Bahari operate, completing the crossing to the main island of Karimunjawa in about 2 to 2.5 hours. Slower ferries take around 4 to 6 hours. Please note that ferry schedules vary seasonally and can be subject to cancellations in bad weather. From the main island of Karimunjawa, the transfer to Menyawakan, where the Kura Kura Resort is located, for example, is usually organized by smaller resort boat and takes around 20 to 30 minutes.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long international flight and the multiple transfer steps with potential delays due to changing ferry schedules or weather conditions, arriving at least one day before embarkation is strongly recommended. A pre-cruise hotel in Semarang or Jepara can make the journey more relaxing before you take the ferry.
