Norwegian Cruise Line has developed the Sail & Sustain program to reduce the environmental footprint of its ships while continuing to provide exceptional cruise experiences. The program’s goals include minimizing waste, reducing CO2 emissions, and promoting sustainable procurement. The company is also investing in new technologies.

The cabins aboard the Norwegian Gem are modern and comfortably furnished. Inside cabins measure approximately 12–25 sqm, outside cabins measure 12–17 sqm, and balcony cabins offer approximately 18–26 sqm of space. All cabins feature twin beds or a double bed; some cabins also include a third and fourth bed, typically as a fold-down bunk bed. Family cabins are also available. Guests in the suites and villas (ranging from 31 to 395 sqm) are treated to pure luxury, including a butler and concierge service as well as daily amenities. In addition, you have access from here to a private courtyard area with its own pool, sun deck, and fitness area.

The atmosphere on board is laid-back and relaxed. Guests from all over the world travel on Norwegian Cruise Line ships. Anything goes. You can pack your formal wear, as select dining options feature a gala evening. Don’t feel like dressing up? That’s no problem either, as there are no dress codes on board. In the main restaurants, only swimwear and shorts are not permitted. Norwegian Cruise Line offers the perfect vacation for the young and the young at heart. At the same time, there are always quiet corners, cozy bars, and secluded spots on deck, so that guests seeking peace and quiet will also find what they’re looking for.

• O'Sheehan's Bar & Grill: Here you can enjoy live sports broadcasts of your favorite teams while savoring traditional pub fare in a relaxed atmosphere.
• Grand Pacific: In this main restaurant, traditional cuisine awaits you in a relaxed and cozy setting.
• Magenta: You’ll find this main restaurant on Deck 6. Here, you’ll also enjoy a variety of culinary delights
• Garden Café: This indoor buffet restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• The Great Outdoors: At this casual buffet bar, you can enjoy delicious grilled dishes like hamburgers and hot dogs in your swimwear while overlooking the ocean.
• Topsiders Bar & Grill: Here you can dine in a casual setting after a night out or before the day begins. Enjoy everything from grilled burgers to hot dogs

At the following restaurants, there is an additional charge:

• Cagney's Steakhouse: This American-style steakhouse offers an unforgettable experience for every meat lover.
• Sushi: You can enjoy delicious Japanese sushi at the sushi bar.
• Moderno Churrascaria: At this authentic Brazilian “churrascaria,” you’ll enjoy fantastic grilled meats, carved and served directly at your table by the passadores.
• La Cucina: Indulge in the finest dishes and ingredients at this lively Italian restaurant.
• Le Bistro: At Le Bistro, an elegant French fine-dining experience awaits you in a magnificent setting.
• Orchid Garden: In this Asian fusion restaurant, you can enjoy freshly prepared noodles, delicious wok dishes, and much more.
• Teppanyaki: Here, you’ll share a table with other guests and watch as an experienced chef prepares shrimp, steaks, and fried rice on a huge steel griddle.

Alternatively, you can also use room service for a small additional fee. Indulge in the diverse cuisine and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while taking in the beauty of the sea around you.

In the many different lounges and bars (not included), you can enjoy a wide variety of drinks and meet new people. Enjoy delicious cocktails at the Shakers Martini & Cocktail Bar, sip champagne and wine at Magnum's Champagne & Wine Bar, or treat yourself to a whiskey with your cigar at the Corona Cigar Club.

The Vibe Beach Club is an exclusive retreat reserved exclusively for adults. It offers ocean views, comfortable lounge chairs, a spacious hot tub, and amenities such as chilled towels and fruit skewers. Access requires a pass or a cabana for two people, which are available for the entire duration of the cruise. Since space is limited, reservations are recommended.

The Stardust Theater hosts major shows every day. A Las Vegas-style casino is available on board, as well as quieter spots like a card room, a library, an art gallery, and an internet café.

Of course, there’s also a disco/nightclub where you can party until the early morning hours. For kids and teens, there’s an exclusive club program. These age groups are supervised by trained staff and are off-limits to adults. The whole family can still have a great time, though, with activities like karaoke or the video game arcade. For those who like to stay active, there are plenty of sports options on board. A large fitness area, open 24 hours a day, leaves nothing to be desired. A jogging track, a basketball/pickleball court, and numerous sports classes offer something for practically everyone. A special highlight is the ship’s own climbing wall.

When it comes to wellness, the Mandara Spa & Salon has everything you could possibly want. Beauty treatments, massages, hair styling, and a variety of saunas are all available to help you relax.

There’s plenty to do for children on board, too. Children between 6 months and 3 years old who still wear diapers are called “Guppies” on board. They have access to a playroom equipped with toys, balls, and sensory play activities. There is no supervised program here.

For children ages 3 to 12, the Splash Academy offers space for active games and arts-and-crafts areas. Here, children can let their creativity run wild.

The Entourage offers teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 a modern, digital, and inclusive way to get involved.

Norwegian Cruise Line offers a wide variety of shore excursions for the various ports of call. You can view and book these after making your reservation or, depending on availability, book them directly on board.
