Mein Schiff 2

Mein Schiff is implementing specific measures in several areas related to environmental protection. In general, efforts are made to reduce waste on board and to sort it. Any waste generated is then picked up by waste disposal services in port and processed or recycled on land. Currently, 90% of the fresh water on board is sourced from the sea and treated before it leaves the ship. 

The following projects are currently underway:

Plastic Reduction Program: Plastic and single-use products are avoided on board as much as possible, and whenever feasible, materials made from renewable resources are used. For example, washable cotton aprons are used in the kitchen, and guests will find refillable soap dispensers in the cabins.

Shore Excursion Program: In this area, Mein Schiff follows the independent guidelines of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and gives preference to shore excursion operators that hold a GSTC-recognized sustainability certification. 

Shore Power: The entire Mein Schiff fleet has already been retrofitted for shore power, and all new ships are equipped with a shore power connection right from the shipyard. Using shore power reduces emissions of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter.

Textiles and Interior Design: Mein Schiff partners with Dibella to supply the terry cloth items in the cabins and the guest linens. Dibella manufactures its products from 100 percent GOTS-certified organic cotton. GOTS certification establishes environmental requirements for cotton cultivation as well as social and environmental criteria for further processing throughout the supply chain.

All the 1447 staterooms onboard are furnished very comfortably. In addition to the other fleet members of TUI Cruises - Mein Schiff, the Mein Schiff 2 also offers an even wider selection of staterooms and suites. 90 percent of the staterooms aboard are oceanview staterooms.

The main onboard language is German.The atmosphere is relaxed - similar to an upscale club hotel. Especially middle-aged guests feel very comfortable on board. But also families are increasingly on board the ship during the holidays. In particular, the guests appreciate the informal atmosphere, the possibilities to be active in sports, and the variety of catering facilities. With the "Premium Inclusive Services" concept almost all food and drinks as well as the gratuities are already included. At this point TUI Cruises - Mein Schiff differs significantly from most of the other cruise lines.

The culinary offering on board Mein Schiff 2 includes numerous restaurants and cafés where every guest will find something. You can expect a culinary variety ranging from traditional to modern dishes.

The following restaurants are already included in the price:

• Anckelmannsplatz (buffet restaurant): A variety of dishes from the warm and cold buffet await you here for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Fischmarkt: Enjoy specialities from the sea, e.g. fish and seafood.
• Atlantik - Mediterranean: Savour a variety of meat and fish dishes, vegetarian and vegan dishes in a Mediterranean ambience.
• Atlantik - Classic: Enjoy a rich breakfast buffet in the morning and daily changing 5-course menus in the evening.
• Tag & Nacht-Bistro: The bistro is open almost around the clock - ideal for a small midnight snack.
• Backstube (in the buffet restaurant): Here you can sample crispy rolls, delicious sandwiches or exquisite tarts.
• Bosporus snack bar: Discover hearty, savoury dishes such as doner kebab, falafel or Belgian potatoes with delicious sauces.
• Ganz schön gesund-Bistro: Enjoy balanced and healthy dishes with fresh and selected ingredients.

You pay a surcharge in the following speciality restaurants:

• Surf & Turf Steakhouse: Sample tasty grilled specialities from land and sea and discover the extensive wine list.
• Cucimare - Ristorante in the Manufaktur: Look forward to homemade pasta creations or pizza with ash dough.
• Manufaktur - Kreativküche: Various culinary workshops and very special dinner evenings are offered here.
• Esszimmer - Lieblingsgerichte: Feel at home with a homely atmosphere and home-style cooking.

In the numerous bars and lounges, you can enjoy among others a cappuccino in the X-Bar, savour delicious cocktails in the TUI Bar or have an aperitif in the Schau Bar. We also recommend the "Ebbe & Flut" beer bar (extra charge), where you can enjoy regionally brewed beer from the Ratsherrn brewery in Hamburg.

There is a large number of changing events, from acrobatics and musical shows to magic interludes and comedy shows. A whole team of around 50 singers, dancers and acrobats will enchant you. Cookery shows, ‘murder mystery dinners’ or pool deck parties: you will experience a lot! And if you want to turn night into day, the DJ in the bar will play for you until the early hours of the morning. For those who like to exercise, there is plenty of sport on board: A large fitness area leaves nothing to be desired and numerous courses offer something for practically everyone. Sporting excursions are also usually offered on land: e.g. mountain bike or paddle boat tours. Diving and snorkelling excursions are also on the programme in many ports. Boredom is certainly not an option on board the Mein Schiff 2!

For children, there is a Kids Club on board that cares for children ages 3–11. The age groups are as follows: 

• Krabben: 3–5 years
• Seeteufel: 6–8 years
• Piranhas: 9–11 years

The Kids Club is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During mealtimes with the Kids Club counselors at the Anckelmannsplatz buffet restaurant, there is no separate supervision at the Kids Club.

There’s also a teen program on board for teens ages 12–17. They’re welcome in the Sturmfrei Teen Lounge. Whether they’re sports enthusiasts, looking to relax, interested in food, or creative, there are plenty of highlights to keep them from getting bored. In general, according to the current STIKO recommendation, adolescents are required to be fully vaccinated (including two doses of the measles vaccine) in order to participate in the program.

Shore excursions can be booked both before your trip and, depending on availability, on board. The excursions are organized by local tour operators, and the on-site tour guides make every effort to offer them in German. However, it is possible that some excursions may be conducted in English. The cycling, e-bike, and e-scooter excursions, as well as the golf and diving excursions organized by TUI Cruises, are always accompanied by a German-speaking activity expert.

The feel-good fleet of TUI Cruises - Mein Schiff offers a German-speaking cruise as a "club holiday with a lot of demand and comfort". The cruise line is a good choice for all of those who would like to experience a lot, while emphasizing comfort and good food.
