About Phoenix Reisen
The German tour operator Phoenix Reisen was founded in 1973. In 1988 they started cruising the oceans with the charter of the ship Maxim Gorki. Starting as a pure ocean shipping company, Phoenix Reisen expanded its range in 1993 to include the popular river cruises. The four well-known ocean liners are now joined by more than 30 river ships as well as a few smaller ships for exceptional destinations. The shipping company is still in family hands and attaches great importance to a friendly and pleasant atmosphere aboard their ships.
The MS Alena was put into service in 2018 as a sister ship to the 2017 new MS Asara. The ship offers a tasteful, warm ambience in a luxurious style with spacious lounges. A comfortable panorama lounge invites you to linger. In addition, the ship offers a spacious sundeck with a small pool, sun loungers, seating areas and shaded areas as well as a viewing terrace on the bow.

Atmosphere on board of Alena
On board you will experience a quiet, cosy and informal atmosphere without a strict clothing standard. For the traditional captain's dinner, guests are invited to dress a little more elegant. But also for this event evening wear can be left at home. Live music on the dance night and light entertainment with board and card games will make your cruise a relaxing experience. Light-flooded, stylish and elegantly designed rooms ensure a pleasant ambience on board. Due to the fact that the tour operator is a German company the onboard language is German and guests pay their bills in Euro.
MS Alena offers both a panoramic restaurant with reserved seats for dinner and a specialty restaurant at no extra charge. Look forward to a rich breakfast buffet and enjoyable lunches and dinners in the form of multi-course menus. The well-rehearsed kitchen and service team spoils you with all the amenities that the kitchen has to offer. On request, meals can also be prepared gluten-free, lactose-free or diabetic-friendly. If you want, you can also take afternoon coffee and lunch. There is also the captain's reception and captain's dinner with a festive menu.
Entertainment, sports & relaxation
In general, it is rather quiet on board the MS Alena. However, during the trip you can look forward to regular dance evenings with live music. A selection of books, board and card games is available to you. You can play shuffle board on the sundeck or do your laps in the pool. The on-board sauna and steam bath provide your physical and mental relaxation.
Alena shore excursions
Through a variety of shore excursions, you have the opportunity to get to know the country and it’s people along the route. The excursion program is adapted to the length of stay of the ship and is accompanied by qualified tour guides. The excursions are usually in German language. The shore excursions can be booked directly on board or partly in advance online at the shipping company. Girocard and VISA/MasterCard are accepted on board.
