Speyer is a significant port of call for river cruises on the Upper Rhine and, thanks to its central location in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region, is excellently connected to the German transport network. The ship moorings are located in the immediate vicinity of the city center and the famous Technik Museum, allowing for easy orientation upon arrival.

Car

Thanks to the direct connection to the A61 and A6 motorways and the B9 federal highway, Speyer is easily accessible from all directions. On-site, you will find public long-term parking at the Technik Museum and near the moorings; additionally, many tour operators arrange secure parking including luggage transfer directly to the gangway.

Train

Speyer Central Station is excellently connected to the long-distance network of Deutsche Bahn via the Mannheim ICE hub and is regularly served by the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn. From the station, you can reach the ship moorings on the banks of the Rhine comfortably in about five to ten minutes by taxi or use the short distances for an initial walk along the cathedral to the harbor.

Airplane

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is located only about 90 kilometers to the north and offers worldwide connections as well as a direct link to the rail network towards Speyer. As an alternative, Stuttgart Airport (STR) is about 110 kilometers away and, thanks to the good motorway network, allows for a swift onward journey by rental car or shuttle to the harbor.

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Speyer Cathedral

Thanks to its central location directly on the lively Maximilianstraße, the cathedral is also the ideal starting point for a stroll through the charming old town with its numerous cafes and individual boutiques. It is best to visit the monumental building directly in the morning to enjoy the special atmosphere and the play of light in the nave in peace, and use the remaining time for a relaxed walk along the Rhine promenade back to the ship.

Returning to the ship

Returning to your ship in Speyer is particularly relaxed and safe thanks to the short distances and the clear city structure.

On Foot

From the UNESCO World Heritage Site Speyerer Dom or the central Maximilianstraße, you can stroll back directly to the banks of the Rhine in about ten to fifteen minutes through the extensive Domgarten. The path is level and, thanks to the clear signage towards the Technik Museum, offers excellent orientation for the way back to the pier.

Taxi

Central taxi ranks can be found at Postplatz at the western end of the pedestrian zone and directly at the main railway station. In addition, the staff in the hotels of the old town or at the Hotel am Technik Museum will be happy to arrange a vehicle to bring you comfortably and punctually back to your berth within a few minutes.

City-Shuttle and Bus

The bus line 565 operates as a City-Shuttle at regular intervals between Domplatz and the car park at the Technik Museum, providing you with a comfortable return journey directly from the heart of the city. Thanks to this connection, you can reach the immediate vicinity of the ship piers quickly and enjoy the remaining time until departure in a relaxed manner.
