Port information & tips for Veere
The picturesque Veere on the Veerse Meer is considered one of the most charming destinations in the Dutch province of Zeeland and enchants visitors with its glorious history as a former trading city. The historical backdrop impresses with magnificent gabled houses from the Golden Age and a romantic harbor atmosphere that invites you to enjoy a relaxed stroll. Outstanding sights include the monumental Grote Kerk, the Late Gothic Stadhuis with its famous carillon, and the prominent Campveerse Toren fortification tower right on the water. River cruise ships dock directly at the central berth on the Kaai, which means that after just a few steps, guests are right in the historic center and can easily explore the cozy alleys and small boutiques on foot.
Veere, a magical historic town on the island of Walcheren, is a popular destination for river cruises and is easily accessible thanks to its central location in Zeeland. The port area is compact and welcoming, without extensive terminal structures, allowing you to reach your ship with ease.
Car
Veere is easily accessible via the well-developed Dutch highways, particularly the A58, which leads directly into the Zeeland region. Parking is available in public parking garages on the outskirts of the town, for example at Bastion, Kanaalweg, or Mauritsbolwerk. From March to October, these are subject to a fee, while they are often free of charge in the winter months from November to February. Another free option, about a 15-minute walk away, is the parking lot on Veerseweg opposite Zorgcentrum Sandenburg.
Train
Travelers from the DACH region can comfortably reach the nearest train station, Middelburg, by rail. From there, bus line 584 runs directly to Veere; the journey takes only about 11 to 18 minutes and brings you conveniently to the center. Alternatively, taxis are available to take you to the port in approximately 11 minutes.
Airplane
For air travelers, the nearest international airports are Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS), Rotterdam The Hague (RTM), and Brussels (BRU) in Belgium. From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), you can reach Veere by rental car in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. From Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM), the driving time by car is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. For travel by public transport from Schiphol, the train connection via Rotterdam Centraal to Middelburg is recommended, taking around 3 hours and 50 minutes. For early embarkation times, a pre-cruise overnight stay in the charming Zeeland region is recommended to start your cruise relaxed.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the cruise: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
