Sneek, the charming heart of the Frisian Lake District, is a popular destination for boaters and river cruisers and is easily accessible thanks to its central location in the Netherlands. Since it is a city of water, there are various berths and harbors for cruises and boat tours.

Car

Sneek is optimally connected to the Dutch road network, particularly via the A7 motorway, which provides a direct link from the direction of Amsterdam as well as the northeast of the Netherlands. Other important connections include the N354 and the Stadsrondweg. Various parking options are available in Sneek for those arriving in their own vehicle. For example, you can find free long-term parking at the "De Domp" marina or at the Veemarktplein. Additionally, the multi-story car park at Normandiaplein offers free use for the first 24 hours, from where most berths are easily reachable on foot. Many yacht charter providers in Sneek also offer free and secure parking for their guests.

Train

Sneek railway station is well connected to the Dutch railway network. Travelers from the DACH region often reach Sneek via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS). From there, an hourly train connection runs to Heerenveen, from where you can easily continue your journey to Sneek; the entire train journey usually takes less than three hours. You can also reach Sneek directly from Groningen by train in about 1 hour and 24 minutes. The central berths and marinas are often just a short walk away from Sneek station.

Airplane & Pre-cruise Hotel

The nearest airport is Groningen Airport Eelde (GRQ), located about 62 kilometers from Sneek. From there, onward travel to Sneek is possible by public transport, including bus and train connections, in about 2 hours and 4 minutes. Alternatively, the larger Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is an option; although it is about 100 kilometers away, it offers a comfortable journey thanks to excellent train connections. When arriving on a long-haul flight, a pre-cruise hotel in Sneek or the surrounding area is recommended to start your cruise adventure relaxed. In Sneek itself, you will find a good selection of hotels for an overnight stay before embarkation.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation.
