Car
Middelburg is excellently connected thanks to the A58 motorway, also known as the "Zeeland Motorway", making it easily accessible from the entire DACH region. A signposted "P-Route" leads you directly to the multi-storey car parks and parking spaces in the city center. Recommended parking options include the Kousteensedijk car park with around 530 spaces or the Geere car park. A particularly affordable option is the Oude Veerseweg car park, which offers free parking and is only about a 15-minute walk from the center. Please note that "license plate parking" applies in many central areas and the maximum parking duration can vary; parking is usually free on Sundays and public holidays.
Train
Middelburg station is excellently integrated into the Dutch railway network and is located on the Roosendaal–Vlissingen line. Intercity trains run hourly and offer convenient connections to Amsterdam and Roosendaal, among others. From Germany, Middelburg can be reached from Cologne, for example, in approximately 4.5 hours with several transfers. The station is located southeast of the city center and can be reached from there via the station bridge in just over 5 minutes on foot from the center and thus also from the pier. Taxis and local bus lines are available at the station forecourt.
Airplane
For international guests from the DACH region, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) and Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM) are ideal for arrival. Schiphol is approximately 143 kilometers away and can be easily reached by train in around 2 hours 38 minutes (with a transfer, e.g., in Rotterdam Centraal). A car journey takes about 1 hour 51 minutes. From Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM), which is approximately 93 road kilometers away, you can reach Middelburg by car in about 1 hour 18 minutes. The train journey including transfers takes around 2 hours 26 minutes from there. Numerous private transfer services from both airports also offer a stress-free and direct journey to Middelburg.
