Cruise ships typically dock at the centrally located Port de la Bourdonnais, which is situated directly at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and, thanks to this first-class location, provides convenient, direct access to the historic center as well as all the major sights of the French metropolis.
Paris is the heart of French river cruising and offers direct access right by the Eiffel Tower with central moorings such as the Port de la Bourdonnais or the Port de Grenelle. Thanks to its role as a European transport hub, the city is excellently connected and easily accessible for travelers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Train
The journey by train is particularly relaxed, as high-speed trains such as the ICE or TGV from Frankfurt, Stuttgart, and Munich arrive directly at the Gare de l’Est station. Travelers from North Rhine-Westphalia also use the Eurostar to Gare du Nord, from where the moorings on the Seine are directly accessible in about 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or the Metro and RER lines.
Airplane
Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport is served directly several times a day from almost all major cities in the DACH region and is located around 30 kilometers from the center. From there, you can easily reach the terminals in about 60 minutes using the RER B suburban train line or an organized shuttle service, while Orly (ORY) Airport also allows for short transfer times to the ships thanks to its location in the south.
Car & Parking
Paris is well connected to the European long-distance road network via the A1, A4, and A13 motorways, although the Crit’Air environmental badge is mandatory for the city area. As parking options in the city center are limited, secure parking garages such as Parking Quai Branly or special Park & Cruise arrangements at the airports offer safe parking spaces and an uncomplicated onward journey to the port.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
