Port information & tips for Concarneau
Concarneau is a picturesque coastal gem in Brittany and, thanks to its rich fishing tradition, is one of the most charming destinations on the French Atlantic coast. The city impresses with a unique blend of maritime flair and historic architecture that immediately captivates visitors. Absolute highlights include the famous Ville Close, an impressive medieval fortress town on an island in the harbor basin, as well as the fascinating Musée de la Pêche and the nearby neo-Gothic Château de Keriolet. Cruise ships usually dock directly at the centrally located Quai d’Aiguillon, allowing travelers to arrive right in the lively city center and easily explore the winding alleys and regional gastronomy on foot.

Car
Concarneau is well connected to the French road network and is easily accessible by car for travelers from the DACH region. The city is located about 20 miles (around 32 kilometers) southeast of Quimper, which you can reach via the D783 main road. For parking, free parking spaces are available at Avenue de la Gare 91 and 116, Rue du Port, Rue Jean Rospars, and at Rond-Point Robert Jan, from which you can reach the port in 20 to 30 minutes on foot. Alternatively, there are paid parking lots at Quai Carnot, which lead to the port in about 10 minutes on foot. Please note that during high season, Quai Carnot can experience heavy traffic and limited parking availability.
Train
Although Concarneau itself does not have a direct rail connection, you can easily reach the cruise port via nearby train stations. The most relevant station is Rosporden, from where local bus connections (e.g., bus line 4) take you directly to Concarneau. Another option is to travel to Quimper station, which offers an approximately 37-minute journey to Concarneau thanks to the BreizhGo 43 bus line.
Airplane
Several airports are a good choice for international guests from the DACH region. The nearest airport is Quimper-Cornouaille (UIP), about 22 kilometers away, followed by Lorient South Brittany Airport (LRT) at a distance of 38 to 50 kilometers. Brest Bretagne Airport (BES) is also an option, around 70 to 90 road kilometers away, and offers a quick connection with a driving time of about 1 hour and 4 minutes by car. Taxis and regional bus connections are available from these airports for onward travel to Concarneau. For a stress-free start to your cruise, a relaxed overnight stay in advance is recommended after a long flight.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
