Oostende is the vibrant gateway to the Belgian North Sea coast and welcomes travelers as the charming "Queen of the Seaside Resorts." The city impresses with its maritime elegance, extensive sandy beaches, and a lively promenade that invites you to stroll and linger. Cultural highlights in the immediate vicinity include the historical sailing school ship Mercator, the imposing neo-Gothic St. Petrus-und-Paulus-Kirche, and the renowned Mu.ZEE art museum. Cruise ships dock at the modern Cruisekaai in the Albert II-dok. Thanks to the central location, guests can reach the lively city center and the train station in about 15 to 20 minutes on foot or by a convenient shuttle, making shore excursions and exploring the surrounding area particularly relaxed.
The cruise port of Oostende in Belgium is easy to reach from the DACH region thanks to its excellent location on the North Sea coast and superb transport links. The immediate proximity of the train station to the port area is particularly advantageous.
Car
Oostende is well connected to the European road network and is directly accessible via the E40 motorway (Exit 5). Various parking options are available for longer stays: central paid car parks such as Zeeparking on Leopold II-laan or the Nieuwe Zeedijk car park offer convenient access to the port area, with daily rates of around 27 Euro. Alternatively, you can find free peripheral car parks at Maria-Hendrikapark or P3 Oosteroever, from where you can easily reach the center by public transport. For a worry-free arrival, we recommend booking a parking space in advance.
Train
Oostende Station (Oostende Station) scores with its direct location on the harbor basins and is the terminus of line 50A from Brussels. Thanks to this central position, you can reach the cruise terminal in just a few minutes on foot. A short bus ride, for example with line 30, takes you from the station to the port area in only about 2 minutes. The station is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Belgian coast with the popular coastal tram.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Ostend-Bruges International Airport (OST), located only about 4 to 5 kilometers from the city center and the port. From there, you can reach your ship in approximately 10 minutes by bus or taxi. For international arrivals from the DACH region, Brussels Airport (BRU) is an excellent choice, located about 114 kilometers away and offering good train connections to Oostende in around 1 hour and 43 minutes. For long-haul flights, arriving a day early is recommended to start your cruise relaxed and without time pressure.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
