Transfer to the Embarkation Point
Honiara International Airport (HIR) is located approximately 12 kilometers east of Honiara. From there, you can easily reach the city and Point Cruz Harbor, the main port of call for cruise ships in Honiara, in about 13 minutes by taxi or minibus. Many cruise lines organize collective transfers from the airport to the respective embarkation point or partner hotels. Should your expedition cruise start from another island, further domestic flights with Solomon Airlines or boat connections to the smaller islands will be required from Honiara.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long international flights and possible unforeseen delays, an overnight stay in Honiara before embarkation is strongly advised. This allows you to adjust to the time difference and ensure you reach your ship on time. In Honiara, you will find various hotels suitable for a pre-cruise stay, which often also assist in organizing transfers to the port.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents will usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
