Cruise port Suva (Viti Levu)

Port information & tips for Suva (Viti Levu)

Suva is the lively capital of Fiji and the pulsating heart of the South Pacific on the island of Viti Levu. The region's largest city delights visitors with its charming blend of British colonial architecture, modern influences, and tropical joie de vivre. In close proximity to the harbor, the colorful Suva Municipal Market, the lush Thurston Gardens with the fascinating Fiji Museum, and the historic government building invite exploration. Cruise ships dock at the centrally located Kings Wharf, from where the bustling city center and its numerous shopping opportunities are easily and directly accessible in just a few minutes' walk thanks to the excellent location.

The Port of Suva is located in the vibrant center of the Fijian capital on the island of Viti Levu and welcomes cruise guests directly at King’s Wharf. Thanks to its central location, travelers can easily reach nearby markets and the city's cultural highlights on foot or by taxi.

Airplane

Travel from the DACH region typically leads via Nadi International Airport (NAN), which serves as the most important international gateway to the Fiji Islands. For a time-saving transfer to the port, an inland connecting flight to the regional Nausori Airport (SUV) is recommended, as it is located only about 23 kilometers northeast of Suva and allows for a short travel time of approximately 30 to 45 minutes to the terminal.

Transfer & Highway

Queens Road stretches for about 190 kilometers along the picturesque south coast between Nadi International Airport and Suva. Travelers can reach the port comfortably by taxi or private transfer shuttles in around 3.5 to 4 hours; additionally, scheduled buses from Sunbeam Transport or Pacific Transport offer a regular and affordable connection directly to the city center near the port.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight time and to avoid time pressure, arriving at least one day before embarkation is advisable. First-class accommodations such as the Grand Pacific Hotel or the Holiday Inn Suva are located just a few minutes' drive from King’s Wharf and also provide the ideal opportunity to relax and adjust to the tropical climate before the start of the cruise.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.
