Airplane
Travel from the DACH region generally requires long-haul flights to Nadi International Airport (NAN) on the main island of Viti Levu. From Nadi (NAN), there are several daily domestic flights with Fiji Link (part of Fiji Airways) to Savusavu Airport (SVU), with a flight time of about 1 hour and 4 minutes. Alternatively, there are also connections from Nausori International Airport (SUV) near Suva, with a flight time of about 45 minutes. Savusavu Airport (SVU) is located only about 2 kilometers from the town center and can be reached quickly via taxis or hotel shuttles. Due to the long international flight, a pre-cruise overnight stay on Viti Levu or in Savu Savu is recommended to start the cruise relaxed.
Domestic Transfer & Ferry
For travelers seeking additional island experiences, ferry connections are available. From Suva (Viti Levu), ferries operated by Goundar Shipping run to Savu Savu, offering an overnight journey of about 12 hours. Another option is the combination of bus and ferry from Suva via Natovi and Nabouwalu to Savu Savu, a daytime connection with a shorter sea crossing of 2.5 to 4.5 hours, followed by an approximate two-hour drive from Nabouwalu to Savu Savu. Local buses in Savu Savu are an affordable and authentic way to explore the coast, while taxis are available for individual trips to more distant destinations.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Given the long journey from the DACH region and the need for domestic flights, a pre-cruise hotel in Savu Savu is highly recommended. This allows for a relaxed acclimatization and avoids stress on embarkation day.
