Port information & tips for Leleuvia
Leleuvia is a paradisiacal jewel in Fiji's Lomaiviti Archipelago and embodies the epitome of an idyllic South Sea dream. This private coral island impresses with its pristine powder-white beaches, turquoise waters, and a relaxed barefoot atmosphere that invites you to completely unwind to the gentle sound of the ocean. Highlights include the species-rich Leleuvia Marine Reserve for world-class snorkeling, traditional Fijian handicraft classes, and the colorful coral gardens right off the coast. As the island is exclusive and natural, ships anchor offshore and guests reach the central Leleuvia Island Jetty comfortably by tender boat. This landing point is located directly in the heart of the resort, making all beaches and attractions easily and directly accessible on foot.
Leleuvia is an idyllic island in Fiji that does not have direct road or rail connections. Arrival at the charming island terminal is always via a combination of long-haul flight, intra-Fijian transfer, and a picturesque boat ride. Due to the long travel time from the DACH region, careful planning and an overnight stay in advance are recommended.
Airplane
Your main arrival point is Nadi International Airport (NAN), Fiji's most important international airport. Direct flights from Europe are rare, so convenient connecting flights via hubs in Asia, Australia, or New Zealand are usually necessary. From Nadi, you can choose either a short connecting flight to Nausori Airport (SUV) near Suva (approx. 25 minutes flight time) or a longer land transfer to enable onward travel to the island.
Transfer & Boat Trip
From Nadi International Airport (NAN), you can reach Suva via a domestic flight to Nausori (SUV) in about 25 minutes or by taxi/bus along the scenic Queens Road in around three hours. From Suva, you then travel comfortably by taxi to Bau Landing, a journey of about 25 to 40 minutes. From Bau Landing, a boat arranged by the resort will take you directly to Leleuvia Island in about 35 to 45 minutes. Boat departures are usually twice daily, for example at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and must be coordinated with the resort in advance.
Pre-Arrival Hotel
Given the long intercontinental journey and the necessary coordination of transfers to the island, an overnight stay in the greater Nadi or Suva area before embarkation is highly recommended. This allows for a relaxed arrival and ensures that you can comfortably meet the scheduled times for the boat transfer to Leleuvia. Many hotels in Nadi or Suva offer comfortable options for a restful night to start your Fiji adventure refreshed.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the harbor and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the shipping company and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.
