Airplane
Travel from the DACH region typically involves a long-haul flight to Lima (LIM), followed by a connecting flight to Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport (IQT) in Iquitos. This airport is the central gateway to the Peruvian Amazon and offers domestic connections from Lima as well as international flights from Panama, Brazil, and Colombia. Iquitos itself is the world's largest city without road access to the rest of the country, making air travel the only practical option for arrival.
Transfer and River Arrival
From Iquitos Airport (IQT), a transfer usually takes place by bus to the embarkation port in Iquitos, such as the Embarcadero Turistico, where you will board your river cruise ship. Pevas is located approximately 145 kilometers downstream from Iquitos and is accessible only by boat. The river journey can take between 5 hours with fast ferries and up to 12 hours with local speedboats, depending on the type of boat. Most river cruises organize this entire transfer from Iquitos to the ship's landing point in Pevas or another starting point of the Amazon journey, allowing for a comfortable and well-coordinated onward trip.
