Golfito in Costa Rica is a remote but extremely charming cruise port, primarily reached via Fly & Cruise from the DACH region. The ship docks directly at the central pier, making the town and its offerings accessible on foot.
Airplane
Travel usually takes place via Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica's largest international airport. From there, the journey continues with a domestic flight to the regional Golfito Airport (GLF), located just a few kilometers from the harbor. Airlines such as Sansa offer several daily direct flights, taking approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour. Golfito Airport (GLF) is a small domestic airport and serves exclusively national flights. An alternative international arrival option is Liberia Airport (LIR), which is, however, further away.
Onward Journey to the Port
From Golfito Airport (GLF), you can reach the cruise terminal and the city center comfortably in a few minutes by taxi. Those who wish to enjoy the Costa Rican landscape can also consider a longer journey by private shuttle or rental car from San José (SJO), which takes about 5 to 7 hours via the Pacific and Pan-American Highways. Public bus connections from San José to Golfito take approximately 7 to 9 hours.

Due to the long journey from the DACH region and the necessity of a domestic flight or an extensive overland trip, arriving at least one day before embarkation is recommended. This allows for relaxed acclimatization and avoids travel stress.
