Port information & tips for Dammam

Dammam is the dynamic gateway to Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province and a modern jewel on the Persian Gulf. The bustling metropolis combines futuristic architecture with deeply rooted traditions and offers a fascinating maritime atmosphere thanks to its extensive waterfront promenade. Cultural highlights nearby include the picturesque Dammam Corniche, the authentic Heritage Village, and the colorful Souq Share Al-Hob. Cruise ships dock at the King Abdulaziz Port in the modern Dammam Cruise Terminal, from where the city center and the main attractions are easily accessible by shuttle or taxi in about 15 minutes, providing travelers with convenient access to the region's treasures.

The Dammam cruise port, also known as King Abdulaziz Port, is developing into an important maritime hub on the Arabian Gulf and offers modern terminals for smooth processing. For guests from the DACH region, a convenient Fly & Cruise plan is recommended due to the long journey, ideally with a pre-cruise overnight stay.

Airplane

Arrival is usually via King Fahd International Airport (DMM), located approximately 31 to 44 kilometers northwest of Dammam city center. The driving distance to King Abdulaziz Port is about 55.4 kilometers. The airport is well-connected and served by various international airlines.

Transfer & Shuttle

Various comfortable transfer options are available from King Fahd International Airport (DMM) to the port or your hotel. Taxis and ride-hailing services such as Uber and Careem are widely available at the airport and offer direct trips. A taxi ride from the airport to King Abdulaziz Seaport takes about 43 minutes and costs between 170 and 220 SAR. Many hotels in Dammam also offer their own airport shuttles, making the onward journey pleasant.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight times from the DACH region, a pre-cruise overnight stay in Dammam or nearby Al Khobar is highly recommended to start your cruise relaxed. In Dammam, you will find a wide selection of hotels, from luxury options to comfortable mid-range hotels, some of which also offer airport transfers. This provides the opportunity to acclimatize before embarkation and gather first impressions of the region.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
