Port information & tips for Odda
Odda is the spectacular gateway to Norway's natural wonders and is located at the picturesque end of the Sørfjord, a branch of the Hardangerfjord. The town impresses with its unique combination of imposing mountains, deep blue water, and a charming, historic atmosphere. Absolute highlights include the impressive twin waterfall Låtefossen as well as the nearby Folgefonna National Park with its eternal glaciers and the famous Trolltunga rock formation. Cruise ships dock at the central Odda Kai, which is located directly in the town center and, thanks to its first-class location, offers direct access to cozy cafés, local shops, and the starting points for unforgettable nature experiences.
Odda, picturesquely situated at the innermost end of the Sørfjord in the Hardangerfjord, welcomes cruise guests directly in the charming town center. Smaller ships can conveniently dock at the quay, while larger ships may tender to bring guests ashore.
Car
Arriving in Odda by car is easily possible thanks to Norway's well-developed and scenically beautiful highways. Important routes include the Fv7, which leads through the impressive Hardangerfjord region and partially includes a ferry connection (e.g., Tørvikbygd-Jondal), as well as Route 13. From the south, Odda is accessible via the E134. Public parking is available in the town center of Odda.
Airplane & Transfer
The nearest major airports are Bergen Airport Flesland (BGO) and Haugesund Airport (HAU). Bergen (BGO) is about a three-hour drive away, while Haugesund (HAU) can be reached in approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. There are direct bus connections from Bergen that take about 2 hours 52 minutes to 2 hours 57 minutes to reach Odda. For travelers from the DACH region arriving at Oslo Airport (OSL), an overnight stay locally is recommended for a relaxed start to the cruise due to the longer transfer time of around six hours.
Train & Bus
Odda does not have its own train station. However, arrival by train is conveniently possible via Voss station, an important hub for the Bergen Railway between Oslo and Bergen. Regular direct bus connections run from Voss to Odda, with a travel time of about 1 hour 58 minutes to 1 hour 59 minutes. Additionally, there are direct bus lines from Bergen to Odda. Since the Odda bus station is centrally located, the way to the cruise pier is just a short walk. To ensure a stress-free embarkation, it is advisable to plan your arrival in Odda one day before the cruise.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
