Port information & tips for Nordfjordeid (Nordfjord)

Nordfjordeid is a hidden gem at the end of the Eidsfjord and forms the gateway to the breathtaking natural landscape of the picturesque Nordfjord. The charming town impresses with its authentic Norwegian atmosphere as well as the majestic mountain world and is simultaneously an important cultural center of the region. Outstanding highlights include the impressive Sagastad Viking Center with the Myklebust ship, the modern Operahuset Nordfjord, and the Norsk Fjordhestsenter, which offers fascinating insights into the breeding of the traditional Fjord horses. Cruise ships dock at the innovative SeaWalk Nordfjordeid, a floating pier system that leads passengers directly into the inviting town center and, thanks to the short distances, enables a comfortable exploration of the picturesque wooden houses as well as local shops.

Nordfjordeid welcomes its guests at the modern SeaWalk, a floating pier that allows ships to dock directly without the need for tendering. Thanks to its central location right at the end of the Eidsfjord, you can reach the picturesque town center from the ship in just a few minutes on foot.

Airplane

For arrival from the DACH region, Ålesund Airport (AES) is the most important international hub and is located approximately 120 kilometers from the port. From there, you can easily reach Nordfjordeid by rental car or public bus in around three to four hours; additionally, the regional Sandane Airport (SDN), just 15 kilometers away, offers fast daily connections via Oslo.

Car

The port is directly connected to the Norwegian trunk road network via the well-developed E39 European route and National Road 15, and can be reached from the direction of Bergen in about five hours and from Oslo in around nine hours. Public parking spaces are available in the town center and near the harbor, and the municipality offers excellent infrastructure for travelers using the port as a starting point for individual tours.

Transfer & Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the idyllic location in the fjord, we recommend arriving the day before with an overnight stay in one of the charming hotels in town to explore the Viking culture and the Sagastad Center in a relaxed manner. The Vy Express bus also reliably connects Nordfjordeid with major transport hubs and train stations such as Otta, allowing you to enjoy the impressive Norwegian landscape during your journey.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
