Port information & tips for Tampa (FL)
Tampa is a vibrant metropolis on Florida's sunny Gulf Coast, blending modern urban flair with rich historical tradition. The port is located in the dynamic Channelside District, where a relaxed maritime atmosphere meets first-class entertainment, allowing visitors to dive right into the action. In the immediate vicinity, the impressive Florida Aquarium, the lively Sparkman Wharf district, and the historic old town of Ybor City invite you on exciting discovery tours. Cruise ships dock at the modern terminals of Port Tampa Bay, which are located in direct proximity to the city center and offer comfortable access to all the city's highlights thanks to the charming TECO Line Streetcar.
Port Tampa Bay impresses with its central location in the heart of the Channelside District and is quickly accessible from both the airport and the highway network thanks to its excellent infrastructure. Terminals 2, 3, and 6 offer cruise guests modern processing and direct access to the ships of renowned cruise lines.
Airplane
Tampa International Airport (TPA) is located only 15 kilometers from the port and is conveniently served by direct flights from the DACH region, for example from Frankfurt or Zurich. Thanks to the short travel time of about 20 minutes, travelers reach the cruise terminals quickly and easily. As an alternative, Orlando International Airport (MCO) is available, located about 90 minutes' drive east of Tampa, providing additional flight options.
Transfer & Parking
From the airport, Interstate 275 and the Selmon Expressway lead directly toward the port, where ample parking spaces are available for travelers in the Port Tampa Bay Parking Garage as well as on guarded outdoor areas. For a smooth transfer to the ship, cruise line shuttle services, as well as taxis and ride-sharing services, ensure that passengers are brought directly to the respective terminal in a short time. Those arriving by train use the Tampa Union Station, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the port grounds.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the time difference on transatlantic flights, arriving at least one day before embarkation is advisable to start your holiday relaxed. Many hotels in Downtown Tampa or the historic Ybor City district offer guests special Park-and-Cruise packages including shuttle transfers. Additionally, a stay the day before allows for a visit to the nearby Tampa Riverwalk or the Florida Aquarium directly at the port.
