Miami is known as the "Cruise Capital of the World" and is the vibrant gateway to the tropics. The port impresses with its spectacular location right in front of the striking skyline and radiates a unique energy with its mix of Art Deco glamour and Latin American rhythm. Highlights within direct reach include the maritime shopping center Bayside Marketplace, Bayfront Park, and the impressive Maurice A. Ferré Park with its world-class museums. Cruise ships dock at the state-of-the-art terminals of PortMiami on Dodge Island. From here, the city center is easily accessible via the Port Boulevard Bridge or the PortMiami Tunnel in just a few minutes and over a distance of around two kilometers.
As the world's most important cruise port, PortMiami is excellently connected to Florida's infrastructure and is directly accessible from major highways thanks to the PortMiami Tunnel. The extensive port facility on Dodge Island includes numerous state-of-the-art terminals, each assigned to specific cruise lines to ensure efficient embarkation.
Airplane
Miami International Airport (MIA) is located only about 13 kilometers from the port and is regularly served by direct flights from Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich. Alternatively, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), located about 45 kilometers to the north, is a great option for travelers from the DACH region.
Transfer & Shuttle
From MIA airport, you can reach the terminals comfortably in 15 to 20 minutes by taxi, Uber, or Lyft at a fixed price. In addition, cruise lines offer coordinated shuttle buses, while travelers from Fort Lauderdale can use the Brightline train to MiamiCentral Station, which offers short transfer distances to the port.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the time difference and to avoid flight delays, we recommend arriving at least one day before your cruise. Hotels in Downtown Miami or the adjacent Brickell area provide an ideal base, as they often offer special Park & Cruise options and short shuttle connections directly over the MacArthur Causeway to the ship.
