Cruise port Seward (AK)

Seward is the central starting point for cruises through the Gulf of Alaska and is served via the Dale R. Lindsey Alaska Railroad Terminal directly on Resurrection Bay. Thanks to its spectacular location between glaciers and mountain ranges, the travel experience begins as soon as you arrive through the pristine nature of Kenai Fjords National Park.

Flight & Transfer

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is located about 200 kilometers north of Seward and serves as the main hub for travelers from the DACH region, who often arrive with a connection in Seattle or directly from Frankfurt during the season. From the airport, you can reach the terminal comfortably in about two and a half to three hours with organized cruise line shuttle buses or specialized providers such as the Park Connection Motorcoach, with the drive along the Seward Highway considered one of the most beautiful routes in North America.

Rail

A particularly stylish and relaxed arrival is made possible by the Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic train, which runs daily from Anchorage directly to Seward during the summer months and stops near the cruise terminal. The approximately four-hour journey leads through remote wilderness and past glaciers, with many cruise lines even offering exclusive charter trains for their guests, where luggage is transported directly from the train to the ship for a smooth process.

Car & Pre-Cruise Hotel

For individual travelers, the Seward Highway (Alaska Route 9) leads from Anchorage directly to the port, where public long-term parking is available at South Harbor. Due to the long flight duration from Europe and the time difference, we recommend arriving at least one day in advance with an overnight stay in Seward or Anchorage to enjoy the start of your cruise refreshed and relaxed, thanks to the additional time for local excursions to Exit Glacier.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

Even during the voyage, the following applies: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to current announcements as well as notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
