The Royal Naval Dockyard at the western tip of Bermuda is the fascinating maritime gateway to one of the Atlantic's most exclusive island paradises. Today, the former British naval base impresses with a successful combination of historical charm and modern leisure activities set within an impressive fortress complex. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the National Museum of Bermuda in the imposing Commissioner’s House, the charming Clocktower Mall, and the lively Snorkel Park Beach. Cruise ships dock at the modern Heritage Wharf or King's Wharf terminals, from where visitors can reach the capital, Hamilton, in around 20 minutes thanks to fast ferry connections while enjoying panoramic views of the turquoise coastline.
The Royal Naval Dockyard on Bermuda, featuring the King’s Wharf and Heritage Wharf terminals, serves as the central docking point for large cruise ships at the western end of the island. Due to its island location, travel from the DACH region typically involves a flight followed by a transfer across the archipelago directly to the port area.
Airplane
L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) on the eastern side of the island is the main point of arrival and is located approximately 35 kilometers from the port. Since there are no direct flights from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, you can comfortably reach Bermuda via connecting flights through London-Heathrow (LHR) or US hubs such as New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS), which allow for a quick onward journey to the island.
Transfer & Taxi
From the airport, you can reach the Royal Naval Dockyard in about 60 minutes by taxi or an organized shuttle service. A particularly attractive and fast connection is also offered by the Blue Route high-speed ferry, which connects the port with the capital, Hamilton, in around 20 minutes, offering guests their first panoramic view of the coastline.
