Cultural highlights include the historical fortress Ciutadella de Roses and the majestic Castell de la Trinitat, both of which offer wonderful views over the Gulf of Roses. Cruise ships usually dock at the Moll Comercial in the Port de Roses, from where the picturesque old town and the lively waterfront promenade are easily accessible on foot in just a few minutes thanks to the central location.

The cruise port of Roses on the Spanish Costa Brava is easily accessible thanks to its favorable location and modern infrastructure. Situated in one of the most beautiful bays in the Mediterranean, the city center as well as beaches and sights are within easy reach on foot or with a short taxi ride from the terminal. For larger cruise ships, embarkation may take place via tender boat, providing a picturesque arrival experience.

Car

Roses is ideally connected to the Spanish motorway network and is therefore easy to reach from the DACH region with your own vehicle. Via the AP-7 motorway, you can take exit 3 (from the direction of France) or exit 4 (from the direction of Barcelona), from where the C-260 main road leads you comfortably to Roses. Parking is available at the Roses Marina area, with 20 minutes of short-term parking being free of charge. Early planning of the parking duration is recommended.

Train

Although Roses does not have its own train station, arrival by train is comfortably possible thanks to the nearby city of Figueres. Figueres has two train stations: the station for regional trains (approx. 18 km away) and the Figueres-Vilafant high-speed station for AVE/TGV trains (approx. 20-30 km away). From Figueres, you can reach Roses in about 30 minutes by taxi or with a combined bus journey, which leads directly to the center of Roses after a short change in Figueres.

Airplane

For a quick arrival from the DACH region, the airports of Girona-Costa Brava (GRO) and Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) are available. Girona Airport (GRO) is the closest at approximately 53 km and allows for a transfer time of around 1 hour 4 minutes by taxi or private shuttle. Alternatively, the larger Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) is about 160 km away and offers a wider selection of direct flights. From Barcelona, the journey to Roses by taxi or private transfer takes around 2 hours. In addition, there are direct bus connections from Barcelona Airport to Roses, which take about 2 hours 45 minutes. For a relaxed start to your cruise, especially after long-haul flights, an overnight stay in Roses on the day before embarkation is recommended.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.

The promenade and the center of Roses can be reached on foot in just about 5 to 10 minutes. The flat path leads directly along the sea and offers you immediate access to numerous cafés, shops, and the historical fortress Ciutadella.

Roses Express (tourist train)

These popular excursion trains start in the immediate vicinity of the port and offer various routes through the city as well as into the surrounding hills. Thanks to the open carriages, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the bay during the journey and effortlessly reach the region's higher viewpoints.

Taxis and public buses

Official taxis wait for passengers directly at the port exit and will take you quickly to destinations in the immediate vicinity. In addition, the central bus station is just a few minutes' walk away, offering regular connections to Figueres or Cadaqués, allowing you to enjoy flexible excursions throughout the entire region.

Ciutadella de Roses

This monumental fortress complex combines traces of settlement from over two millennia and, thanks to its direct proximity to the port, is the ideal place to dive deep into the Greek and Roman history of the region without long travel times.

Platja de Roses & Promenade

The golden sand beach stretches along the entire bay and, together with the extensive, modernly designed promenade, offers a perfect setting for relaxing hours by the sea as well as a first-class view of the incoming and outgoing ships.

Old Town of Roses

The historical district impresses with its winding alleys and Mediterranean atmosphere; furthermore, visitors will find an excellent selection of traditional restaurants and small boutiques here, which are ideal for purchasing local specialties.

Useful tips

Platja de Canyelles Petites

The idyllic bay of Platja de Canyelles Petites is located about three kilometers from the port and offers fine, golden sand as well as crystal-clear water in a wind-protected location. Thanks to the first-class infrastructure with comfortable sun loungers and inviting beach restaurants, you can enjoy a completely relaxed stay with a view of the azure Mediterranean Sea. You can reach this stretch of coastline easily in ten minutes by taxi or via the picturesque panoramic path "Camí de Ronda", which also offers spectacular photo opportunities of the rocky shoreline. It is best to arrive at the beach directly in the morning to secure an ideal spot, and plan your return journey to the port at least ninety minutes before departure.

Returning to the ship

The way back to the port of Roses is very relaxed thanks to the central location of the terminal and can be wonderfully integrated into your stay on-site.

On Foot

From the city center or the historic Ciutadella, you can take a comfortable stroll along the flat beach promenade directly back to the harbor pier. The path along the coast is easy to find and also offers a beautiful view of the sea and your waiting ship.

Taxi

Should you be returning from more distant bays such as Canyelles Petites, you will find taxis at central locations such as the Plaça de Catalunya or directly in front of the tourism office on Avenida de Rhode. The ride to the port is short, and thanks to the good accessibility, you will arrive safely and on time for boarding.

Roses Express and Bus

The small tourist train, Roses Express, brings you from the surrounding hills and viewpoints comfortably back to the central stop on the beach promenade in the immediate vicinity of the harbor. Additionally, you can easily reach the port from the regional bus stop in Carrer de Rhode, which is just a short, level walk from the pier.
