Port information & tips for Malaga
Málaga is the sun-drenched gateway to the Costa del Sol and one of the oldest cities in the world. The Andalusian metropolis combines Mediterranean joie de vivre with thousands of years of history and welcomes visitors with a mix of modern promenades and historic alleys. The Moorish fortress Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro castle ruins tower directly over the city, while the impressive Cathedral of Málaga and the Picasso Museum await in the heart of the old town. Cruise ships dock at the modern Terminal de Cruceros at Muelle de Levante, from where the vibrant city center can be easily reached in about 15 minutes on foot via the elegant waterfront promenade Muelle Uno or by using regular shuttle buses.
The Port of Málaga impresses with its excellent location directly at the historic city center and, thanks to its modern terminals at the Estación Marítima de Levante as well as the coastal Palmeral de las Sorpresas, is a first-class starting point for cruises. Travel from the DACH region is particularly convenient due to the close proximity to the international airport and the well-developed long-distance transport network.
Airplane
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is located only around 10 kilometers from the port and is served by direct flights from numerous airports in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Thanks to the short distance, you can reach the cruise terminal comfortably in 15 to 20 minutes by taxi or use the C1 S-Bahn line, which takes you to the Centro Alameda station near the port in about 12 minutes.
Train
The Málaga María Zambrano main railway station is excellently connected to the Spanish AVE high-speed network and enables fast connections to Madrid or Barcelona. From the station, you can reach your ship directly by taxi within about 10 minutes; additionally, modern luggage storage facilities are available at the station for guests who wish to explore the city before embarkation.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the charming old town and the short distances between the city center and the port, arriving a day early with an overnight stay in one of the central hotels is recommended. Many accommodations are located within walking distance of Muelle Uno, the lively port district with numerous restaurants and shops, allowing you to begin your embarkation relaxed and without time pressure.
