The cruise port of Cartagena impresses with its excellent location directly at the historic city center, allowing guests a particularly comfortable transition from the terminal into the old town. The modern Juan Sebastián de Elcano terminal at Muelle de Alfonso XII is easily accessible thanks to its central integration into the transport network of the Murcia region.
Airplane
For arrival from the DACH region, Alicante-Elche (ALC) Airport is the most important hub and is located around 115 kilometers from the port. From there, you can reach Cartagena in about 75 minutes by taxi or rental car; additionally, many cruise lines offer convenient transfers. The significantly closer Murcia-Corvera (RMU) Airport is only 35 kilometers away and complements the options with a short transfer time of around 30 minutes to the terminal.
Train
Cartagena railway station is centrally located and is only about 1.5 kilometers from the cruise terminal. From here, you can reach the ship either with a short taxi ride or a relaxed 15-minute walk along the lively harbor promenade. The connection is provided via the Spanish RENFE rail network with regular services from Madrid and Murcia, ensuring a relaxed arrival.
Car & Parking
Thanks to the direct connection to the A-30 motorway from the direction of Madrid and the AP-7 coastal motorway, the port is excellently accessible for self-drivers. Directly at the Muelle de Alfonso XII quay, the Parking Puerto car park offers secure spaces in close proximity to the terminal; furthermore, additional guarded parking facilities for short- and long-term parkers are available in the immediate vicinity.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination area—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
