Port information & tips for Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is the glamorous heart of the Principality of Monaco and embodies pure luxury and Mediterranean elegance like no other place on the Côte d’Azur. The location between steep cliffs and the azure Mediterranean Sea provides a spectacular backdrop where world-class yachts and the flair of Formula 1 combine harmoniously. In the immediate vicinity, the magnificent Prince's Palace, the famous Oceanographic Museum, and the legendary Casino de Monte-Carlo beckon. Cruise ships dock at the "Nouvelle Digue de Monaco" terminal in Port Hercule, from where exclusive boutiques and cultural highlights are easily accessible on foot thanks to short distances and practical public elevators.

Monte Carlo welcomes cruise guests at the modern Port Hercule directly in the heart of the Principality, where ships usually dock at the impressive Nouvelle Digue. Thanks to its exclusive location, arrival from the DACH region is excellently organized by air as well as by rail and road.

Airplane

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) is the most important hub for guests from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and is located about 30 kilometers from Monaco. From there, you can easily reach the Principality in around 45 minutes via the Airport Express Bus 80 or use the Monacair helicopter transfer for an exclusive start, which brings you to the heliport near the terminal in just seven flight minutes.

Train

The modern, underground Gare de Monaco-Monte-Carlo station offers excellent connections and is located just a few minutes' drive from Port Hercule. Thanks to regular regional connections from Nice or Ventimiglia as well as long-distance connections via the French TGV, you can reach the cruise terminal relaxed and enjoy a first view of the famous backdrop upon arrival.

Car

Arrival is via the French A8 motorway and exits 56 or 58, which lead you directly into the well-signposted urban area of Monaco. Secure parking spaces are available directly at the port in the Parking de la Digue or Parking des Pêcheurs parking garages; additionally, the short distances in the Principality allow for comfortable luggage drop-off directly at the quay wall.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
