Port information & tips for Trapani (Sicily)

Trapani is located on the sun-drenched west coast of Sicily and is considered an enchanting gateway between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Mediterranean. The city captivates with its striking sickle-shaped location and a unique flair of magnificent Baroque and lively maritime tradition. Architectural treasures such as the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, the Chiesa del Purgatorio with its famous processional figures, and the historic Torre di Ligny can be easily explored in the immediate vicinity of the harbor. Cruise ships dock at the central berth of Banchina Garibaldi, which is located directly on the edge of the picturesque old town. Thanks to this prime location, visitors can reach the historic center and the cozy alleys within a few minutes' walk and enjoy the authentic Sicilian atmosphere immediately after docking.

The port of Trapani on Sicily is a central hub for cruise ships in the Mediterranean and impresses with its modern infrastructure and its direct proximity to the historic old town. Thanks to its good connections from the DACH region, it is easily accessible by various means of transport.

Car

Via the A29 motorway, which leads from Palermo, for example, you can reach the port of Trapani directly by following the last exit and following the signs for "Porto". For parking, the Porto Trapani car park at Via Libica 19 is available on site. In addition, the service provider Trident Group offers open-air parking spaces with a shuttle service to the terminal. Alternatively, the Andros car park, just 100 metres from the port, is available with covered and uncovered parking spaces as well as 24-hour video surveillance. Please note the restricted traffic zone (ZTL) in the old town, which is active at certain times; use the ring roads here to avoid fines.

Train

Trapani's main railway station, "Trapani Stazione Centrale", is conveniently located less than a kilometre from the port. From there, you can reach the cruise terminal easily with a short taxi ride, which takes about 5 to 10 minutes. A cost-effective alternative is bus line 21, which takes you to the port in about 14 minutes.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Trapani Birgi Airport (TPS), also known as Vincenzo Florio Airport, which is located around 18 kilometres from the port. Various options are available for the transfer to the port: Regular bus connections run between the airport and the port in about 30 minutes and cost approximately 2 to 4 euros. A faster and more comfortable option is a taxi, which covers the distance in about 24 minutes and costs between 29 and 35 euros. In addition, specialised providers such as Trapani Tourism Service or Suntransfers.com offer reliable shuttle services that guarantee a stress-free arrival directly at the cruise terminal. For long-haul flights, an overnight stay in advance is recommended to start your cruise relaxed.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
