Port information & tips for Ravenna
Ravenna is a glittering jewel on the Italian Adriatic and, as the former capital of the Western Roman Empire, impresses with its incomparable history. The charming city combines ancient splendor with the relaxed flair of Emilia-Romagna and is a true paradise for culture lovers thanks to its world-famous, UNESCO-protected mosaic art. Among the absolute highlights are the magnificent Basilica di San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, and the tomb of the famous poet Dante Alighieri. Cruise ships dock at the modern Ravenna Cruise Terminal in the Porto Corsini district, from where the historic center, about twelve kilometers away, can be reached easily and quickly by available shuttle buses or taxis.
Ravenna has established itself as a major hub for Adriatic cruises, with ships docking at the modern terminal in Porto Corsini, approximately 15 kilometers north of the historic city center. Traveling from the DACH region is flexible and comfortable by plane, train, or car, thanks to its location in Emilia-Romagna.
Airplane
Bologna Airport (BLQ) is the primary arrival point and is located about 90 kilometers from the port, offering excellent direct connections from cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich. From Bologna, you can reach the terminal in Porto Corsini comfortably by taxi, private transfer, or via the cruise lines' organized shuttle buses in approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Additionally, Venice Airport (VCE) is frequently used and serves as an attractive alternative for Fly & Cruise guests, despite a travel time of about 2.5 hours.
Train & Shuttle
Ravenna train station is directly accessible via regional express connections from Bologna or Ferrara and offers links to the international rail network. From the station, you can easily reach the cruise terminal in about 20 to 30 minutes using bus line 90 or special transfer minivans. Due to Ravenna's cultural treasures, we also recommend arriving a day early and staying overnight in the historic old town to start your vacation relaxed.
Car & Parking
The terminal is directly and easily accessible for travelers with their own car via the A1 and A14 motorways as well as the SS309 expressway. Secure long-term parking is available on-site, often including a convenient shuttle service directly to the ship area. Thanks to the good signage around Porto Corsini, drivers can find their way to check-in quickly and safely.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
