Port information & tips for Genoa

Genoa is the magnificent gateway to the Mediterranean and one of Italy's most important port cities with a seafaring tradition spanning thousands of years. The Ligurian metropolis impresses with its fascinating panorama of grand Renaissance palaces and the winding labyrinth of the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Right at the harbor, the world-famous Aquarium of Genoa, the modern Porto Antico, and the majestic Via Garibaldi with its magnificent Palazzi dei Rolli inspire visitors. Cruise ships dock at the central Stazione Marittima at the Ponte dei Mille or Ponte Andrea Doria piers. Thanks to its prime location, the historic city center is easily accessible on foot, allowing travelers to enjoy both the maritime history and the vibrant Italian flair immediately after docking.

As one of the most traditional Mediterranean ports, the Port of Genoa is a central starting point for cruises and, thanks to its location in Northern Italy, is easily accessible for guests from the DACH region. The terminals of the Stazione Marittima at Ponte dei Mille and Ponte Andrea Doria are centrally located and perfectly integrated into the city's infrastructure.

Car

Via the A7, A10, and A12 motorways, you can reach the Genova Ovest exit, from which the port area is directly and well-signposted. Secure parking garages and valet services are available directly at the terminals, specifically tailored to cruise guests and allowing for a stress-free vehicle drop-off right at the ship thanks to short walking distances.

Train

The Genova Piazza Principe long-distance railway station serves as the central arrival point and offers regular connections from the direction of Milan, which ideally link up with trains from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Thanks to the short distance of only about 500 meters, you can reach the cruise check-ins of the Stazione Marittima comfortably on foot or within a few minutes by taxi.

Airplane

Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA) is located just 7 kilometers from the port and is regularly served via European hubs such as Munich or Frankfurt. Getting to the terminal is extremely uncomplicated and time-saving thanks to the Volabus shuttle to Piazza Principe station or by taxi in about 15 to 20 minutes.
